Good afternoon team. In case you hadn't noticed, we moved one place up the run time rankings today, to 42. Hopefully we'll hold on to it for a while.

Good afternoon all - I've just spent 3 hours waiting for an examination by an ophthalmologist. Good news and bad news - one eye needs a Cataract operation - the other doesn't. Now I have to spend £170 on further tests before he can perform the operation and possibly make a trip back to the UK to pick up the necessary Inter Ocular Lens in order to avoid having to wait months while it clears customs. Engineer, musician, smuggler - is there no end to this man's talents!
----------------------------------------![]() BTW Dave my pending eye op was NOT caused by you kaleidoscopic rendition, I was wearing my sunglasses when I saw it for the first time ![]()

RTS48, That sounds serious. Hope things go well for you.

Good morning team. 3.7 billion points yesterday. I notice HSTB seems to have dried up. I've not been following it, but I guess they've hit problems.
----------------------------------------Rod... presumably it's much cheaper to have the operation in Bolivia? I must admit, thoughts of the eyeball replacement scene in the film "Minority Report" sprang to mind, although I expect the hospitals in your area are better than my underfunded ambulance park.

Good morning everyone.
Rod Both good and bad news on your eye condition, hope it is resolved soon and without too much interference from Customs. I too have been diagnosed with early stages of cataracts in both eyes and now look at passing aircraft navigation lights and the moon giving 'trippy' halos. Of course I have the full support of my family and their comments are usually on the lines of "g'oer tha whittling and mithering and look at the pretty lights" ![]() |

Good morning all.
----------------------------------------Thanks for you thoughts regarding my eyes. Those of you who have looked at my photographs on picasaweb will realise that I am a passionate photographer and I get mighty p*ss*d off when a cloud sits between me an a picture. Having said all that I am reassured that the operation is quick and simple (15 minutes I am told). I also have insurance to help with the cost. I underwent 'open eye' surgery a couple of years ago to have a membrane removed from my retina (this has accelerated the cataract formation). An interesting experience as you can see all of the tools during the operation as they only use a local anesthetic. Probably not for the squeamish but I found it fascinating. I'll find out more tomorrow.

DC, What computer language would you recommend to someone who wishes to start programming again?
----------------------------------------I'm interested in doing Android phone apps and web apps which can interact with each other. I'm disappointed in many android apps Which do not do everything I want or are just user unfriendly and quite ugly. Was thinking of PHP or/and Ruby and whatever SDK Google has released. ![]() |
