Re: Good morning team - Quick visit

Good morning all. Nice to see you back on the team forum Mamajuanauk after an extended absence. Try not to make it so long next time.

Those of you with 'SNURK' signatures might have overlooked his rankings page here

Quite interesting really and another measure of progress to add to the excellent stats by Dave Robinson

Morning All...

BTW - dcrobinson - the new stats pages are Brill!

While I haven't been visible on the team forum pages, I've been keeping an eye on them periodically, I like the way they're developing...

RTS - The Snurk stats pages are indeed very interesting, not lease when a new project is launched, because the globe colour/rating can change if someone has only just gone up a level and still has the <b><! <b> after their total runtime.

Several were effected by this, including myself...

The globe colour/rank is worked out on the average runtime per project, when the number of projects, including beta, increases the averages change.

Re: Good morning team - Quick visit

Good morning all, and a "welcome back" to Mamajuanauk (Supreme Arch Cruncher).
I had a great day out yesterday. I took my daughter for a driving lesson - from Malvern to Aberystwyth. 100 miles each way, but on twisty A-roads and via the renowned mountain road and the Elan Valley (mostly single track, precipitous, and sheep-infested). We drove half each (it takes about 3 hours each way), and the weather was fantastic. The only fluffy white things in sight were making baa-ing noises :-)
BTW, if you want a thrill ride in slow motion, try the cliff railway at Aber... it was creaking so much, I was convinced it was going to fall apart at any moment.

I have been on that railway, it was a bit concerning.
The wife seemed very worried but it was a lot of fun though.
Also went on the train at Llandudno.

Thanks Mamajuanauk. Your comment has inspired me to add another feature to my stats page wish list. It should be trivial to add a "runtime per project" feature to my stats page, complete with some kind of coloured badge, and I can display the information on the member comparator page (and of course it'll apply for all team members, no just those with Snurk signatures).
I could also produce a "points per hour" league table, as an alternative axis to the usual runtime/points/results/badges metrics (which favour the high-volume crunchers). Might be nice for people with one very fast machine to at least appear somewhere on a list!

Re: Good morning team - Quick visit

Good morning all. Another damp day in prospect. They say it is a legacy of a strong 'El Niño' this year, I certainly don't remember an equivalent cold spell in the last four years. La Paz got down to -8C yesterday but at least the sun shines during the day which is more than can be said for here. We have yet to drop below 15C but because of the humidity (OK then Damp) it feels much colder.

Dave your stats ides sound interesting (as usual). Can't wait to see the new ones although I doubt that I will appear on the 'points per hour' list

Re: Good morning team - Quick visit

FYI, I've been fiddling with the stats, and have added a "Performance 7 day Leaderboard". This is basically points/hour, and depends to some extent on whether you're running the more generous projects. It's averaged over 7 days, but I think accuracy reduces as amount of runtime becomes less, so I've restricted it to crunchers who've run for at least 24 hours in the last week. I'll see how it goes, and if the figures are wildly swinging, I'll modify my database query to adjust the criteria.

I've also added "Runtime Per Project" to the member comparator. This gives slightly different numbers to Snurk, I think because I'm including Beta Testing as a project, which is a valid thing to do I reckon. More work to do on this, to include some kind of equivalent to Snurk's coloured globes, and a grouped league table like Snurk.
