Re: Good morning team

Good morning all.

We seem to be having a bit of a cold spell here at the moment but it's good for the crunching. Temperatures are predicted to get as low as 14C in the day but at least don't drop below 12C at night - still means an extra blanket though. It's only two and a half weeks until mid winter though.

14C, that's my summer! oh, will have to add lots of rain to make the scenario complete.

Re: Good morning team

I've just built my new desktop computer. Very nice. A mini-ITX motherboard, with a huge Scythe Mugen 4 air cooler, and an i7-6700 processor. Inaudible, and seems to be able to rattle through an MCM unit in no time biggrin. Despite the larger than normal mini-ITX case, it was an interesting assembly challenge, involving a lot more planning ahead than usual.

Here's the best bit. I had a very fast disk setup before (a RAID-0 array of two Samsung 840 Pro SSDs, hitting 1 GB/s). That's now my secondary disk! I now have a Samsung 950 Pro SSD for the operating system. 512GB, 2.5GB/s read, 1.5GB/s write (and I have verified those figures using ATTO), all from a thing the size of stick of chewing gum, mounted on the underneath of the motherboard.

Re: Good morning team

Good evening all.

I've just broken into the top 1300 for wcg. It's taken a very long time - now to get bumped back again (as usual)

Good morning team

Really it is good afternoon everybody. smile

Just got back from a splendid supper and drinkies in celebration of a much loved Uncle's 90th birthday. My head had a slight ache earlier today, cannot think why. biggrin

Re: Good morning team

Good morning fellow UK Team members. I trust you all had a really good weekend (and a bit warmer than mine!).
It is cold (OK then - cool) here in Santa Cruz and we are due for the temperature to fall to 12C on Tuesday. Lots of rain and the sun is not due to shine until next Friday.
We seem to have adopted another pair of cats (mother and daughter). Mother only has one working eye and I think that she is a domestic reject as she is quite friendly and unafraid. Her kitten on the other hand would rival the legendary 'Speedy Gonzalez' and legs it whenever a human is around. Ultimately I guess that we will need to get them to the vet for the usual operation if we don't want to be overrun with feline freeloaders.
