Re: Good morning team

Good Morning Team
It is with some embarrassment that I still have not posted my 10 favourite albums. I need to listen again to so much and - no matter how I try - I cannot get the list below 15.

I have just achieved a personal milestone that will appear nowhere in the records! My 27" iMac has just completed 40 years run time (since 9/2/2010) - quite an achievement for a computer I think. - here's to the next 40!

Not bad for a computer that's a bit of a triumph of style over substance.
Takes a swift pace backwards biggrin
Actually, what's probably more telling is the fact that I've had to reininstall my operating system and/or BOINC software so many times over the years, and hence will never achieve those sort of totals on one machine. OK, so you can copy the BOINC data folder between machines, but usually I can't be bothered to.

Re: Good morning team

RTS48, That mighty Mac has done 3 times the runtime of all my machines. Mighty indeed.

A wee update on my condition, My new meds were increased 3 days ago and it has helped, and last night I got 5 hours sleep, the most sleep I have had in over a week and I felt better for it.

Still have a lot of pain but it seems to be lessening and hopefully when I get a further dosage increase it will put me back to normal. Still have that horrible joint and muscle itching but it is reduced in intensity and hopefully will go away within another week. It has been a hard 8 days but I have broken the addiction and now I'm taking a non-addictive medication that works and it can be used almost indefinitely.
It has been the hardest week of my life and an experience I do not want to repeat.

Thank you everyone for all your kind words. Just being able to talk about it has helped me get through it.

For now, A diamond badge for MCM is my next goal.

Re: Good morning team

Good evening all. Glad to hear that you are on the mend DMNI, at my age joint pains are a way of life (I'm seven years overdue for a second hip resurfacing) but you learn to move with them. It doesn't stop me walking 5 or 6 km a day and I still garden enthusiastically. The only thing is that when I bend down to pick something up I look around to see if there is anything else that needs to be picked up before I straighten. I think Billy Connolly summed it up nicely when he said that age causes strange noises when you bend down and straighten up (such as Arggghh, Ooya, Whew and Yer fuka to name but a few).
Just a small update on my other machines, I have a 17" Mac Book pro which is coming up to 18 years CPU time (since Nov 2010) and a 15" Mac Book Pro coming up to 16½ years CPU time (since Feb 2014)

Good Morning All

I'm saving up for a new Mac - I really don't want to change back to a windows PC but I was wondering which Mac would give me the best bang for my buck. I've been looking at the Mac Pro but the spec that I would like (aka dream about) would cost $11,000 and need a screen and peripherals too, Ah well - it's nice to dream.

Re: Good morning team

Morning all, and a special good morning to Bradley who is going to achieve his first year of crunching for the team today (although obviously he isn't going to read this until well into the afternoon at the earliest).
Rod... just get anything with a Core i7 desktop processor. I find that laptops, even good ones, soon spin up the fans when under load, so you're definitely better with a desktop machine, which doesn't leave you much choice in the Mac world, sadly (given that Mac Minis are just laptops without a screen, and have a laptop processor).
