Re: Boinc for android problem

Hello markop619,
You are the ultimate judge of what your phone is capable of. But . . Yes, I think the default values are good. Only crunch when your phone is plugged in. There is no problem with leaving your phone plugged in while you are at home.

Thank you very much on your quick answer. I will do like you said. I know that this is not the subject but I hope that we will soon have new projects for crunching on PC.

Re: Boinc for android problem

Hi.

I'm using Android HTC Desire.

I'm rooted and I'm using A2SD to move programs to SD card and make the system believe applications are installed on internal rom.

HTC is know to have very few internal memory, so without a program like A2SD, you can't install much programs before running out of memory.

Everything runs fine with my HTC, all applications are installed on SD. But Boinc seems to have a problem, because once installed and logged, it download work and... wait for work. It does nothing. My battery is 100%, I'm plugged, all are default, I tried to tick "work on battery", same. Plugged or not plugged, same result.

So I guess this has to do with the SD but as I mentioned earlier, my phone is rooted and applications automatically and silently installed on SD while system make believe they are put on internal rom.

This is why I don't understand why Boinc does not work.

A lot of people have rooted devices and installed a new rom for enhanced possibilities. I'm under android 4.2.1 by the way and using Paranoïd 3.60 rom. 16Gb SD card and 5 or 6Gb free, don't remember exactly.

Re: Boinc for android problem

Hello Domdom95,
I was quite excited when I started reading your post. Less than half a day earlier Uplinger posted that BOINC had not yet figured out a way to run on SD, treating it as an external hard drive. I hoped that A2SD would be a welcome surprise.

Uplinger says that BOINC will only run on internal storage. Is there room to run a single task (100MB) on internal storage? I think that BOINC will not run on SD.
