Re: Beta Testing VINA on Android Devices - July 9, 2013 - Issues Thread

? Is that whilst on the 110/220V juice your battery gets drained? If not on juice, what's indeed to expect [Though this client is supposed to watch battery temps and percent charge, so it stops to not leave it completely exhausted].

Edit: There's a new build 7.2.5 out ... quoting Rom [Walton]
Howdy Folks,

I wanted to let you all know what our plans are for the next week or so.

Later today I'll be releasing a new client build for Windows, Linux,
Mac, and Android. With all the great work you all have done it looks
like we are on track for a general release across all platforms on the
22nd.

Unless something changes, I expect to do another build on Thursday that
will have a few last minute bug fixes.

For the Android client software I will start a new thread specific to
whatever version of the software we will have in the play store at that
time where I would like each person to tell me how BOINC is currently
working on your device. The kinds of bugs that would cause us to
re-evaluate our release schedule would be crashes or things that might
cause damage to the device.

Any other bugs will be fixed in future Beta builds which will be
automatically downloaded to your device since you are part of the Beta
Google group. How often we convert Beta builds to production releases
will depend on the feedback you all give us.

For Windows, Mac, and Linux we will be looking for our normal test
feedback via the BOINC Alpha test site. Please report your results as
quickly as possible.

Thanks for all your help on BOINC 7.2 to date. I look forward to seeing
us make it across the finish line on Monday.

----- Rom

General Release means, they're wanting to push another Berkeley "Recommended".

-Helle-

To get to the event log, click on the three vertical dots in the bottom right corner of the window, then you should see a link to get to the event log.

I haven't seen anything on Android BOINC to let me set min/max work buffer. It is probably set on the Device Profile on the web page. For now, WCG will only let you have one beta task per core per project.

Hope that helps.

Captainjack thanks for your reply.
I'm using an old HTC One V and don't see any vertical dots. In which "tab" should it be visible? I have "status", "projects", "tasks", "transfers" and "preferences". I could find "event log" in nativeboinc but not in berkeley version.

-Helle-

It's not under any of the tabs at the top: "status", "projects", "tasks", "transfers" and "preferences".

On my Nexus 7 Android device, at the bottom of the screen, there is a left turn arrow that send me back to the previous app, an icon that looks like a house that takes me to the Android home page and an icon that looks like 2 stacked sheets of paper. To the right of those three icons is the 3 vertical dots. I've read that those icons are sometimes hidden and you can activate them by touching that area of the screen. On your device, the dots might be in a different configuration (horizontal?) or there might be a different icon.

When I tap the three dots, it opens a window where I can pick Help, About, Event Log, Suspend, and Exit Boinc.

Maybe that will help.

Re: Beta Testing VINA on Android Devices - July 9, 2013 - Issues Thread

After testing some days I still have the issue described here.

Every WU produces an error after running some time. Only one single WU was completed so far.
The strangest thing is something like this:

[21:01:27] Finished task #2147483391 cpu time used 628.150000

WUs start with task #1, then #2 and somewhere a task with a really high number near 2^31 follows. After that always an error follows.

Another thing (not sure if this has something to do with this): The android client mostly shows -infinity% instead of 30.1% or something like this. I will post that to the BOINC Android testing group, too, as I am not sure, if this is WCG-related or BOINC-Client-related.

But the first problem at least seems to be WCG-related. Other projects (I tested Asteroids@home) run fine on my device with the same BOINC App.

Would be great if this problem would be solved, please give me a hint how I could help & what I could test!

On 7.2.6 I can run 7 betas at a time (all SN2S) though my phone only has 1 core. But wus will apparently take 24h+ to finish so changed the setting back
