Of the first 100 of First 5,000 Registered Members 15 appear to be still crunching Extrapolation would be inaccurate as the first 394 (as stated above) joined before the 16 Nov which is when it went public. So I guess many of the 394 would be IBM employees etc so not a true representation..... ![]() The distribution of "Last Result Returned" for these 100 members: Year # Extrapolate as desired! ![]() ![]() |

Oh so true Dave. I also started day one at UD....from memory around April 2001 and continuous since then....as you say, the Long Haul ![]() UD did run before this, but wasn't interesting until they added the "think" cancer-project. While I did join UD the 1st. week after they launced "think", did also quickly dump it due to the terrible UD-agent (at the time all my computers was dual-cpu, while UD could only use 1 cpu-core), so when WCG started using the same agent had zero interest joining. But, I'm atleast one of the earliest BOINC-users at WCG, since I've got host-id #2508. Since Linux ran for some weeks before this and I'm windows-only couldn't join before this. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." Of the First 5000 Members 571 have crunched in 2013. The full distribution of Last Result Returned :
----------------------------------------Year # The 571 still crunching in 2013 have totalled 6270:364:22:24:27 RunTime and the 4,999 10166:158:21:50:57 The largest individual contribution within the 4,999 (& still crunching) is Lonzer 333:046:12:58:33 While you of course can click on every single of the 5000 members to find out, you'll save a lot of time by using BoincStats My solution was to use iMacros. The only drawback was the ~20 user names with diacritical marks. |

The 571 you found is slightly under the overall value of about 12% [until recently **], see http://bit.ly/WCGMEM. [Yellow line curve, all members incl.UD, light blue line curve the BOINC only registered, but only maintained since 2009. Expecting a concave shaped curve [exponential if you will]... the longer, the less remain, but it could also be an undulating curve... as the seasons flow, and the 'binding' with particular sciences. Then on that curve set a timely of points where projects were started and ended. ** We lost a bunch since the rapid wind-up of multiple sciences. |
