I've got one running on a Windows 7 core i7 machine. I've noticed the Progress percentage occasionally drops while processing. It dropped from 4.000% to 3.815%, for example. In general the number moves forward, but these hiccups sure look strange. The Elapsed time keeps going up as usual, even when the Progress drops. That's standard behaviour for autodock. It should only happen in the first minutes. AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Just got few of these beta WU's .. Is there some limits ( per machine , n * number of cores etc ) ?

gomeyer:"BTW, Leave applications in memory while suspended? = Yes in case that matters."
----------------------------------------Yes, it does matter, and it needs to be OFF if you are testing checkpointing. That way, the task closes and drops out of the system tasks, so the WU has to start from the checkpoint data saved on disc when you resume it. If you are testing checkpointing you should monitor this using the system tasks display utility (ps , top or whatever on *nix, task manager on windows), to check that the process that you suspended actually disappears before you resume the WU. If you leave LAIM ON, the WU will simply resume the suspended memory image without using the saved checkpoint data. ** If you set LAIM OFF for the beta test, remember to put it back ON afterwards! ** ** If you switch LAIM OFF while you have suspended CEP2 WUs, or you suspend CEP2 WUs with LAIM OFF, you may lose some hours of CPU time ** [Edit 1 times, last edit by Rickjb at Feb 14, 2013 8:10:29 AM] |

by my observation new BETA WUs are at least 3 times slower than usual FAAH WUS
----------------------------------------my core2duo core finishes a FAAH WU in around 5 hours, but with these betas it done around 12% in 2 hours |

Hmm mine is at 66% after 2 hours and 42 minutes of CPU time so it should end pretty faster than normal FAAH units. Usually they take between 5-7 hours in my PC(AMD Athlon II X2 445 3.51 GHZ)

I'm not seeing what falconet is seeing. I only have two WUs each on an old P4 and on my Core 2 Duo laptop, but both are showing around 20% complete after 4 hours. That's about right for the P4, but the lappie would usually do that much in 6-8 hours.
Maybe the WUs are being split differently, or are being distributed by capability in order to overcome some of the incompatibilities that were seen the first time around? Or it may just be chance. 4 WUs is not exactly conclusive! |

I have only one BETA running; the other is waiting to run.
----------------------------------------Currently at 79% with 3 hours and 13 minutes of CPU time. BETA_ faah38221_ ZINC12796866_ xPR_ wC6_ 11_ 1ref9_ 01_ 2-- AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

gomeyer:"BTW, Leave applications in memory while suspended? = Yes in case that matters." Yes, it does matter, and it needs to be OFF to test checkpointing. . . . OK, thanks. I thought that might be the case. I've disabled LAIM on my local host and will give it a pop in a minute. [Later] Seems to be working, sort of. WU properties showed last CP at 15:35 and it was up to over 20:00 when I suspended it. When it restarted it fell back to 16:00, not 15:35 as properties reported. Then to try it another way I stopped BOINC completely and it restarted back at 16:00. Turned LAIM back on and stopped/restarted BOINC yet again, 16:00 again. Now I'll just wait to see if this one authenticates after all this messing around. BETA_faah38222_ZINC12231592_xPR_wC6_11_1ref9_01_0 Next day. The above WU validated OK. These do seem to be long-running WUs. Otherwise they're running well. I've returned one of 16 received.
----------------------------------------Oddly, the one I returned had been aborted by two wingmen: Project Name: Beta - FightAIDS@Home Created: 02/13/2013 20:35:20 Name: BETA_faah38222_ZINC09219382_xPR_wC6_11_1ref9_03 Minimum Quorum: 2 Replication: 3 Result Name App Version Number Status Sent Time Time Due / Return Time CPU Time / Elapsed Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit BETA_ faah38222_ ZINC09219382_ xPR_ wC6_ 11_ 1ref9_ 03_ 4-- 711 Pending Validation 2/13/13 22:25:29 2/14/13 04:03:35 5.37 118.4 / 0.0 BETA_ faah38222_ ZINC09219382_ xPR_ wC6_ 11_ 1ref9_ 03_ 3-- 711 User Aborted 2/13/13 22:24:01 2/13/13 22:25:08 0.00 63.5 / 0.0 BETA_ faah38222_ ZINC09219382_ xPR_ wC6_ 11_ 1ref9_ 03_ 2-- 711 User Aborted 2/13/13 22:08:15 2/13/13 22:22:54 0.00 63.5 / 0.0 BETA_ faah38222_ ZINC09219382_ xPR_ wC6_ 11_ 1ref9_ 03_ 1-- - In Progress 2/13/13 22:07:57 2/17/13 22:07:57 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 BETA_ faah38222_ ZINC09219382_ xPR_ wC6_ 11_ 1ref9_ 03_ 0-- |
