Re: ETA on GPU project selection?

I don't want no CPU work or work from all projects either.

Under "Advanced Options" -> "Processor Usage" set "Allow research to run on my CPU?" to "NO"

NO means NO CPU WORK , none, nada for any project.

And NOT wanting NO CPU work (being a double negative) means I DO want CPU work.

I want CPU work.
Not for HCC.
For other projects, but not all other projects.
CLEAR?

PS Using the app_info is also not viable.

Re: ETA on GPU project selection?

Which is exactly what I want and get by using -

This is what works 100% for me...

Select GPU work, do NOT select HCC. Select at least one other project.....and select send me work from other projects if selected work is not available.
With this you get CPU work for your selected project, (or projects) but NO CPU work for HCC, and you get GPU work for HCC under the "Send me work if selected not available" rule......works fine for me....

Re: ETA on GPU project selection? [STILL NOT ANSWERED]

That's not the question of the OP querier... he wants, as most everyone is understanding, GPU only, but no CPU of any science and as you said it's easy.

Wasn't sure if he made an error with "I don't want no CPU work" or if he did mean he wanted CPU-work, something he's now made clear he wants...

Yours, New scenario, start new thread, but what's in pipeline with app_config.xml [stuff you don't know yet], it is very fine grained going to be possible.

Appart for possibly switching DDDT2 with the CPU-project's cw64 wants to run, this is the scenario he's asking about...

Currently there's no way to handle this without constantly changing the preferences, since either you'll get only GPU-work, or will also get CPU-work for a sub-project do not want to run on CPU.

The probably best method to handle this would be to give a full matrix of choises, meaning instead of the current vector of N project-choises, it can be a matrix of Nx4-resource-type-choises. Meaning, CPU, Nvidia, Amd & Intel-GPU is 4 different choises what would fully support all combinations of project & resource-types.

While similar functionality can be possible to accomplish by extending app_config.xml, needing to manually edit the file greatly increases the possibility of errors making this a worse choise.

Re: ETA on GPU project selection? [ANSWERED]

"I don't want no CPU work or work from all projects either" by cw64 was indeed the more explicit, but then we get a bold/huge font/shout post, with an even more bold/huge font/shout post, at which point I tend to hit the famous button ;>)

You are wrong! Read my post!
I only get HCC for GPU and CPU for GFAM and SNTS with my settings as outlined in my post. I do NOT have to change any preferences.

Selects DDDT2, deselects HCC, selects "send me other work"...

Now, where did the FAAH-task come from, since last time I checked, FAAH != DDDT2, and FAAH != GPU-project...

Now, you can argue DDDT2 is a bad example, but regardless of the project-mix you're not guaranteed one or more of WCG's sub-projects has a temporary shortage of tasks so will get undesirable CPU-work instead. If you on the other does not use "send me other work" the only undesirable CPU-work you'll get is for HCC.

I say again I get NO undesirable CPU work, how many times do I have to tell you?

Re: ETA on GPU project selection?

Folks, cw64 wants an ETA. I suggested 100-years as the ETA, and that's it. No need to engage in a heated argument over some cruncher's concern who doesn't seem to feel nor think obliged that he be clear about what exactly his concern is using specific words/phrases and not general phrases as in his: (cw64's phrase / my comment)
I want CPU work / for what project?
Not for HCC / Computing for LENR is also 'not for HCC'
For other projects / what other projects?
but not all other projects / does that include the project at POEM?

Wow, isn't that great. One person wants something fixed that already can be made to work and in a couple of weeks gets a 6-9 month response time. Expanding the recognition for our volunteer work which has been requested for more than 2 years still ........................
