The short answer.....yes if it is the deluxe rev 2.
I would recommend: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/ABIT_Socket_A.html Abit NF7-S v2.0 nForce2 (Socket A) Motherboard (MB-028-AB) Note: If you don't need the Soundstorm 5.1 sound and SATA you can save £10 by getting the vanilla NF7 rev 2 and http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/AMD_Athlon_XP__Mobile_.html Either of these cpu's. These would provide a solid basic system and lots of overclocking headroom should you feel adventurous later on. Also note that the cpu runs at a lower voltage than the official desktop xp and therefore can run cooler and quieter. If not overclocking you may as well get the cheapest of the two. Hope this helps. |

----------------------------------------never looked back since discovering the ASUS A7N8X series of nf2 boards try a a7n8x - vm400 matx board with onboard gf4 graphics. VFM crunching with either a socket A barton or a sempron. no need to spend loads of money on a A64 just yet Have a look at the numbercrunchers pages on the MOT website just upgraded to a A7N8X -E deluxe version 2.0 it's the business. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by David Autumns at Jul 25, 2005 10:10:52 PM] |

VAIO
I would suggest you register with a good hardware forum as you will get a much wider cross section of viewpoints. Personally I hold the power supply of the highest importance......I wouldn't give any modern system anything less than 400w with at least 18A on the +12V rail. Also I would only buy from a reputable manufacturer....Antec/Enermax/Tagan to name but a few. Doesn't matter how good your system is if the power supply blows. If you want links to good hardware sites ![]() |

er...pretty much. fwiw...the one i replaced about 2 months ago was a "power win" made in china 420w, 18a on +12v rail. it's chugging along happily on a 380w antec now.

Kinda......If it is not a familiar brand name.
----------------------------------------That is not to say they are all bad of course....and you can get a duff "brand" name supply on occasion. You can check the power rails for your supply on the sticker on the side of it. Should have ratings for all the rails there. Edit......mousie is now running a 380w but it no doubt has a stronger +12v rail than most generic 400-450 watters [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 25, 2005 10:47:24 PM] |
