Re: The MOT Brutus Club

btw Stefan did the explanation for the amount of points you made on that first work unit on that 300Mhz make sense?

Hi Dave!

Thanks for asking -- I never found the answer until a minute ago!! Actually
I went back and scrolled through this thread to find my initial question and
couldn't find it!! Looked again... Tried the search function, found that you
moved it to a separate thread. MAN, didn't you know that I never, NEVER
read any messages outside the team thread?? Really, no kidding -- I only
read this MOT family discussion here...

Okay, I found it now and didn't even know that I received two pages of
replies... This all must have happened at night (I also never work from
home). Next morning all was gone...

Anyway, I wrote my answer to the thread

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...ead=3518&lastpage=yes

Actually your observation might have been true for previous client versions
but the current ones seem to use the benchmark for the first crunching
period -- the machine still earns 260+ points per day. Pretty weird...

Best, Stefan.

angry Re: The MOT Brutus Club

If the company I work for found the WCG agent even on this test bed I'd be out on my ear.

Ahh, too bad. But that's a very strict policy even for test machines... On the
other hand in the Windows world we all know there are the weirdest side effects
so it makes kind of sense.

I'm glad that here everything that is limited was limited by me.

I had thought about recruiting the kids PC's onto my account wink
but the team's stats would suffer as they wouldn't switch them on so early in the morning without getting their points.

There are a couple of setting that disable all possible ways to shut down a
windows Machine. Tell the BIOS to reboot after power outages. Then get
out the old soldering iron and bridge the power and reset switches. Do a
good flush mounting for the power cable and lock the fuse box. Voila!

"As long as you stick your legs under my table... you crunch for me!!!"

Cancelling their accounts is also a good idea -- useless playing on a computer
substantially lowers its value for crunching...

Best, Stefan.

this is getting boring

we keep getting second each day. i think we need to put a big push to take first.

i know you are saying that we can't possibly over take /. when we are so small, but there was once a time when it seemed impossible to beat all those monster teams that once were ahead of us, but are now eating MOT dust.

never give up, never surrender. dancing
