Good Morning Peeps!
----------------------------------------Just thought I would pop in and say hi as I've not been to many threads other than my own team one at the moment. How is everything going here in the heady pantheon of MOT? |

I can't officially speak for all the other members, but I feel sure they would agree that we are doing a fine, fine job for the WCG |

Hi DAJ!
----------------------------------------Another question for anybody with knowledge (or just opinions). I have a micro ATX motherboard [...] if I gut the old guy does this case have enough height for my micro ATX board? If you build a large rack then you can cool it quite efficiently. Small cases on the other hand are specifically built to provide correct air-flow with limited space. So no matter if a motherboard by chance fits a case it is not designed for -- the air flow might be wrong and the machine dies. ATX boards and ATX cases are designed to fit each other, other case/board standards also exist and then there are those non-standard (custom) designs. Do not mix them or you might be in (heat) trouble. Airflow design in small cases is one heck of a science on it's own. It has to deal with empty or full slots as well, not really trivial. I suggest you try the DCSCS (DAJ Cooled Shelves Case System -- patent pending) and tell us how it worked ![]() Best, Stefan. ![]() Graham -- Good morning sir. From my perspective, you still are a youngster ![]() Today I have lots to do -- it is bottling day at the brewery. Lots of cleaning and sterilization to be done first though. I haven't even eaten breakfast yet -- only on my 3rd cup of coffee! Your friend and team mate, |

You really want someone to try this, don't you? I would do it myself if I had the time... Don't even have time for hobbies so I started READING about them (the hobbies) instead of enjoying them in real. Isn't that sad?? If you don't go for the Windows farm (which might be useless in short time anyway with the Linux clients in the pipeline -- they should run faster anyway since Linux systems aren't that busy while doing nothing compared to Win) then you can also try Linux clustering software. You might end up with a farm you can use similar to a MONSTER SCREEMER -- then you're doing grid processing in your farm for other tasks as well. I'm not sure how good this scales for "useful" applications but rendering (POVRAY) or other tasks that can be splitted to chunks might run very fast. PS: I also like cats but honestly -- are they allowed to stand between you and the crown of WGC??? Also, they reproduce at a much higher rate than we do -- a pile of poor burning kitties until you finally get that darned cooling right but hey, there's a higher goal in all this! ![]() Stefan.
