Re: GPUs have become unusable; disabling tasks

SMTB1963,

Ah yes, well that's RDP as was already observed before. I use LogMeIn or TeamViewer7. Neither interfere with the graphics.

--//--

mmm...I'm not sure why I'm not getting through here. Let me put it this way:

"No usable GPUs found" and "GPUs have become unusable, tasks disabled" in the message log do not indicate a problem that would interfere with the machine downloading/processing CPU tasks.

Perhaps I'm missing something confused

I have version 6.10.58 and that I do not have those 3 GPU settings on my Activity tab...

As was noted above, these options will only appear if BOINC detects a usable GPU. Have you ever done any GPU computing on this computer, or has it been CPU only?

Re: GPUs have become unusable; disabling tasks

hi all...the uninstall and all the manual uninstall stuff fixed this problem.

Obviously something was corrupt. Although I did an uninstall before, I did not have the time to manually go and nuke all the uninstall remnants. I was going to do a more thorough uninstall tonight when most users were offline but was able to do it now which was nice.

Thanks all for your help.

I have version 6.10.58
Very old version - use recommended 7.0.28.

That's the one WCG is offering for downloads: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadAgain.do

and the Download link is: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/clients/wcg...0.58_windows_intelx86.exe

Where are you seeing 7.x and it being "recommended"?

Re: GPUs have become unusable; disabling tasks

Just ignore that ericinboston. 6.10.58 is *thé* stable production version that handles all that involves WCG, to include HCC on GPU. Should you wander outside to other grids, then look at 7.0, but not .28... it's got bugs [of course 1000 will say it works fr them, but that is for their specific environment]. We're currently putting 7.0.31 through it's testing paces and some are still not happy about certain scheduler events and resource/interproject prioritizations [low share/backup projects taking way more than allotted e.g.]. Story to be continues.... some other time.

edit: this forum keeps messing up special characters.

That's recommended by BOINC, NOT by WCG!
