3) Time fraction counters are messed up. Don't know what the normal "connect about every ..." and "Additional buffer" are set at, but propose you set first for the moment to 0.00 and second to 2.00 days 4) On 3) above, also open the client_state.xml and post the time keep section here as sample: <time_stats> <on_frac>0.994327</on_frac> <connected_frac>0.604166</connected_frac> <active_frac>0.999801</active_frac> <gpu_active_frac>0.999801</gpu_active_frac> <last_update>1341903122.957939</last_update> </time_stats> 5) To debug 3) above, there's is 2 log flags that can be added. a) <sched_op_debug>1</sched_op_debug> The one that I've got always on for enhanced log info. b) <work_fetch_debug>1</work_fetch_debug> which produces this: 15241 World Community Grid 10-7-2012 8:55:21 [work_fetch] CPU: fetch share 0.000 rsc backoff (dt 0.00, inc 0.00) Let us know Hi and thanks...here is my section for #4 after I set it accordinginly in your #3: <time_stats> <on_frac>0.775599</on_frac> <connected_frac>1.000000</connected_frac> <active_frac>0.621078</active_frac> <last_update>1341927420.267712</last_update> </time_stats> for #5, where should those 2 lines go? In the bottom/top of the time_stats section? Thanks again. ![]() |

ericinboston I agree that BOINC should be easier for disabling GPU use. Currently the option is to log into the website preferences for whatever project you support to disable receiving work or to possibly edit the cconfig file... Edit cc_config is the best choice, but also in BM/BT you can set "gpu activity" to "never".what is BM/BT? And please let let know exactly where this setting exists. Thanks! ![]() |

SMTB1963, ericinboston, In response to that capitalized line [I tend to ignore such text, thoroughly], it's done with the <no_gpus>1</no_gpus> in the cc_config.xml <options> section. You said you fixed it (with 0). I'm not sure what you mean by "fixed it" :). All I did was set it to: <no_gpus>0</no_gpus> and my problem still exists: it won't download new work. ![]() |

SMTB1963,
Ah yes, well that's RDP as was already observed before. I use LogMeIn or TeamViewer7. Neither interfere with the graphics. --//-- |

Yes, but that sets work to GPU yes, I wrote <no_gpus>1</no_gpus> to set GPU computing permanently to No.
The client's time fracs look fine. See you responding to points 3-5 but not 1/2. Were those OK or did you choose to ignore [like me doing with cap lines]? BM/BT would be the option existing in both BOINC Manager and BOINCTasks. BT actually has a direct edit interface for the cc_config.xml, so there is no worry about correct placement and syntax [it has in-build syntax check] The log flags I asked you to add go into the <log_flags> section of the cc_config.xml Uninstall, clean registry & BOINC data dir, install fresh is the 5 minute action that near certain resolves this without hours of digging as to why via slow forum interaction. Else, no more ideas... without more clues, it's EOL for me on this. |

P.S. This "Main menu --> Activity ---> GPU Activity [always/ never/ preferences]" would only appear if BOINC recognizes that a GPU card is there that is crunch-able

I have version 6.10.58 and that I do not have those 3 GPU settings on my Activity tab... ![]() |

Hi...I uninstalled and reinstalled but this time I will do the extra stuff (which drives me nuts that it's 2012 and apps STILL refuse to properly/thoroughly uninstall themselves...on purpose. ![]() |
