Re: July 07, 2013 update

I think 8 weeks is too long a period to average the results over, given the number of other projects that have dropped off recently.

(Wets finger and raises it into the wind) . . . with no averaging at all, I'm guessing 40 to 45 days to completion.

I agree with your estimate with the caveat that the present pace continues to completion. Should other projects resume or new projects be started, this will substantially effect the pace of FAAH experiment 41. Also, Dr. Perryman may decide to to start additional experiments and run them concurrently with experiment 41.Lots of unknown variables in the mix.
Cheers

Re: July 07, 2013 update

Hope to see another FAAH experiment soon announced. I'm on track to get my Emerald badge for FAAH sometime between late August and mid-September, but it looks like experiment 41 will not get me there - I'll probably will be around 325 days done when experiment 41 is completed if the 40 day estimate is correct. thinking

With DSFL less than 40 days to completion, CEP2 hard to crunch for some of us, unless some new work gets put on the table soon, the well might get kind of dry in August (though a couple months ago, we collectively thought July was when the well would go dry and so far so good). I'm sure all the project scientists will come up with new stuff to crunch in the nick of time to keep us busy, but I'm scratching my head where it will pop up first. It would be nice if that new Ontario project got kicked off later this month or early August, but I've not seen anything show up for the beta crunchers, so ?????

Re: June 9, 2013 update

When projection line hits the baseline, not drawn, you know the experiment is done :D

(partial data collection scanning weekly reports, 15 minutes, charting 5 minutes :D)

Re: June 9, 2013 update

Nice chart. Soon we'll see another fall, because DSFL has no work until new data is available (though there's not much work expected anymore)...

Re: June 9, 2013 update

Suggest that we keep in mind the expansion plans for FAAH outlined by Dr P on 13 June in his thread: End of phase 1 of GO Fight Against Malaria
"In fact, we will soon expand the FightAIDS@Home project and start targeting three different allosteric sites on HIV reverse transcriptase that were recently discovered and three different allosteric sites of HIV integrase that were also recently discovered. In addition, we will soon add the ability to perform docking calculations with the software "AutoDock Vina" on FightAIDS@Home, which will enable us to increase the speed and scale of our virtual screens against these three drug targets from HIV/AIDS by several orders of magnitude."
Perhaps the reason for the silence from WCG on upcoming work is because they've all got their heads down and tails up, working on getting the new stuff going ...

Then there's Papa3's post in the Interesting news articles about AIDS thread:
"Billions of billions of billions of maybe-helpful molecular compounds remain to be discovered, and used for targeting a whole host of medical problems. But who has the time to conjure a novemdecillion drugs? (That number is a 1 with 60 zeroes after it.) ... "
Answer: WCG members and their computers, that's who!
Maybe the researchers & techs are preparing the input data to test a few novemdecillion more compounds against HIV, malaria, dengue, Leismaniasis, ..., and for use in organic solar cells. smile

Re: June 9, 2013 update

Nice chart showing FAAH 41 progress. At the pace things are going, it would suggest experiment 41 should hit 100% in mid-August (or sooner) given the end date is pulling in at least one week per week of crunching at a minimum.

Let's hope experiment 42 (or for three screens coming would it be 42, 43 and 44?) get announced by the end of this month to keep us all crunching along.... biggrin

Nice chart. Puts a graphic to the projections.

Re: June 9, 2013 update

With now FAAH is the only active research, I think the ETA will move forward a lot more.

Re: June 14, 2013 update

WEEKLY UPDATE - based on work averaged over the last 8 weeks:

Current Batch - 43061

Projected Days Left - 41

Projected End Date - August 24, 2013

Experiment Completion - 81.3%

Projected WU remaining approximately 9,985,000

The pace is still accelerating with over 2,600,000 WU in the last seven days.

If the pace continues at the rate of the last seven days, the projection reduces to August 9, 2013. From the status update on the website posted on 7-10-2013 of 69% completion my estimates are probably on the too optimistic side by 3 or 4%. IF the present rate continues, we are either inside the 30 day window or very close to it for the remaining work to be issued. Once the remaining work is issued there is always the 10 days of processing for those with large caches and the resends of non valid WU's, so the ultimate completion of this experiment will probably be sometime in late August/ early September. Once again, the boarding of additional experiments and/or new projects may change all of this speculation.
Cheers

Re: June 14, 2013 update

Yep, 276 years of work done yesterday, which is on a weekend.

Looks like another sapphire badge I miss out on.
