Re: April 21, 2013 update

Hello Sgt.Joe ! Thanks for taking over the weekly updates. I have been really tied up recently, and plugged the recent data into my spreadsheet. I will do an update today with new projections. In the mean time feel free to post your updates here weekly, and I will post my projections whenever I get to.

April 28, 2013 update

WEEKLY UPDATE - based on work averaged over the last 8 weeks:

Current Batch - 39,412

Projected Days Left - 311

Projected End Date - March 5, 2014

Experiment Completion - 50.19%

**** Many things could still drastically affect and chnge these projections, so we need to take into account the upcoming ending of HCC project and the planned resumption of HFCC with the next target.

Re: April 28, 2013 update

The above projected 311 days left is based on a 8 week average. If I apply the 4 week average then it drops to 288 days, while using a 12 week average increases it to 347 days. I choose to use the 8 week avarge because it smooths out the unsuual drops/increases we experience from time to time that could sway the number of days either way.

Either way, by this time next year we hopefully will be crunching on Experiment 42.

WEEKLY UPDATE - based on work averaged over the last 8 weeks:

Current Batch - 39,421

Projected Days Left - 284

Projected End Date - Feb 5, 2014

Experiment Completion - 50.27 %

Thanks Herflick. The recent days show a slight speedup and we both agree it is now more than half done. Keep on crunching.
Cheers

smile May 5, 2013 update

WEEKLY UPDATE - based on work averaged over the last 8 weeks:

Current Batch - 39,602

Projected Days Left - 272

Projected End Date - February 1, 2014

Experiment Completion - 51.81 %

**** With the ending of HCC project our project has picked up a good amount of crunching power. This should help bring this experiment to completion much sooner.

Re: May 5, 2013 update

HCC was the last WCG-project with low memory footprint. Unfortunately i will have to switch some dedicated nodes to another project (bioinformatics of course) just because of low memory

? This is about FAAH, but if a mix of low and higher allowed you to run a few FAAH... another good case for utiliziing app_config with <max_concurrent> and plead for having an <in_progress> control for all sciences, so users can balance what runs [absent BOINC skill to do this automatically].

yep, this topic is about FAAH of course :) sorry for offtopic

i just noticed that not all the HCC resources will be distributed back to other GRID projects, so we will not see a massive jump in computation resources in FAAH

offtopic: dedicated machine has several 3+ GHz xeon cores, but only 600MB memory :( so cannot run more than 1-2 FAAH at the same time
