rob weinberg, WCG never announces such things as a way of controlling the amount of chaos that follows an unsuccessful launch date. However, you can find tons of information on planned GPU capabilities in these forums. We are currently going through BETA testing and those work units go fast when they are available. So, for now we wait.

This is a snip quote by an WCG official as at yesterday:
As far as GPU work goes. We may have another round of beta testing during the challenge [SekeRob edit: May 10-15]. However, we are waiting for a review of some data by the researchers. If that is completed, we may be able to run some GPU work. If we are REALLY REALLY lucky and the next beta goes well, then we will run a scaled up beta as we will be nearing acceptance of the application. There are a lot of things that have to go well for that to happen though so we will wait and see. Your competitors should be aware though that it will be a beta test and so unexpected things are likely to happen (and additional steps are required to sign up). So this is the latest public state. Patience "required". If it does not happen in "best possible scenario", no moping, no tomato throwing please. --//-- |

Is there any idea of when A GPU project will be launched? ![]() As usual at WCG not before it is ready! I see you already have some badges under your name, why not sign up for the Beta testing yourself and work on that Badge too? That way you can help get the testing completed faster. In the latest test I got a stack of Inconclusive units and a few Valid units, so I am guessing there is more testing to be done yet. In the Beta Badges you DO get credits even though the units are not ALWAYS Valid, I do not know the formula but I AM getting credits for the Inconclusive units! ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by mikey159b at May 11, 2012 2:35:49 PM] |

up when?? ![]() We are waiting patiently for any news, as before WCG does NOT release junk to us crunchers, so when it is ready for Prime Time it will be released and not one minute before that. Have you checked the box in your Projects settings to accept gpu units when they become available? ![]() ![]() |

There is *no* time frame. WCG loath to give predictions on anything new. When it comes it comes. Set a "watch" for a specific forum or thread. E.g. get a mail when there's a change to the Beta Announcement forum (which are few) by clicking on this link: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...hSelector=2&forum=181 This creates the watch and redirects you to your current watch list.
