There are several other boinc projects that can use your gpu's right now, if you feel like trying them out feel free. Now is a good time to give your card a shakedown test if you didn't get any work units in the beta. I now have a new MSI Radeon HD 7770, and am using POEM@Home for testing purposes, and like it very well. It is quick, and gives good feedback as to what works and what doesn't. Also, the science seems to be good, and I think I will stick with it for awhile anyway. YOU ARE CORRECT, there are SEVERAL other Boinc Projects that can use a gpu NOW and Poem IS a good one! Perhaps others can list their favorites for those that haven't branched out and tried their gpu's yet. I like Prime Grid for Nividia cards and Moo for AMD cards. DistrGen is good for credits when using an Nvidia card, but Collatz is my 'goto' project when others are having 'issues'. Of course Seti and Einstein can use gpu's too, as well as Albert the NON Einstein Project. MilkyWay also works well IF you have a "double precision" capable gpu, some cards are and some are not. If yours isn't you CANNOT make it a "double precision" capable card. ![]() ![]() |

Perhaps others can list their favorites for those that haven't branched out and tried their gpu's yet. I compute with some 24/7 GPUs on GPUGrid, POEM, Einstein and Milkyway. Seti i only computed until 2M (but it was my first running GPU project ever ^^) then used the GPU for more medical too. Such Projects like PG, DistrGen i only used when temporary there is a bigger problem with my BOINC Cluster or with some GPU Projects at the same time to hold a little bit my RAC not falling to zero ^^ For WCG i would take 2 GPUs away from POEM to fight cancer. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 4 times, last edit by dskagcommunity at Jul 10, 2012 6:08:11 PM] |

Some GPU projects:
----------------------------------------medical: GPUGRID WCG's Help Conquer Cancer POEM@Home astronomy: Einstein@Home Albert@Home Milkyway@Home SETI@Home mathematics: PrimeGrid Collatz Conjecture I generally ignore all GPU projects that cannot use Nvidia GPUs. up, ? gpu? 1 year, 10 years? We are ALL hoping pre 2013, but I am not sure ANYONE knows for sure. As usual last minute problems could derail it like anything else. When Knreed posts you will know something OFFICIAL, until then it is all speculation. ![]() ![]() |

Hello RT,
The same people who are trying to get WCG running with BOINC Server 700 code are trying to get GPUs running on WCG. This morning BOINC Server 700 was still giving trouble. I expect that problem has kept them busy these last 2 months. Lawrence |

I suspect you are correct Lawrence. While in this morning's HCC webcast the scientists touched on how GPU processing can significanly speed up their project, the subject of "when" was not mentioned.
