Re: GPU projects ?

The same people who are trying to get WCG running with BOINC Server 700 code are trying to get GPUs running on WCG. This morning BOINC Server 700 was still giving trouble. I expect that problem has kept them busy these last 2 months. sad

Ok, but why won't they chime in? Too busy to take the time to even talk and share to us their problems like one big family? Else, them enjoying listening to the WCG's version of the 'Sound of Silence' song playing currently at the WCG GPU forum? sad

WCG, like the NSA has always operated on a "need to know" basis. Apparently all we need to know is which oar to pull on.

BTW, I am on the lower level, third oar from left to right. laughing

Re: GPU projects ?

Looking forward for when GPU's are available in the meantime I will crunch GPU Grid. But I did just sign up to Beta Test on WCG for some reason I always missed that option.

With the recent time extensions for most of the WCG projects due to Server overload it is unlikely, IMHO, that a gpu project will be released to use crunchers until they fix it. According to SekeRob a month or so ago WCG was EASILY handling around 1.3 million connections per day, now they are struggling with around 900k! They are looking for the problem and its solution.

Re: GPU projects ?

mickey159b, missing entirely the timing / content of your post in context of the just announced resolution... none to few have had upload issues in the last 4 days. See latest posts in: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,33481 In fact, with the noticeable performance improvement and this being maintained, would not be surprised if the extension of single tasks [a precautionary action] will be reversed in the near future... shorter tasks allows more participation by lower powered devices, of which there are still many.

Reading up on current affairs, before opining is always advised: GPU beta announced: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=389904

Re: GPU projects ?

Looking back into the data after the long out on Friday, 31st, note that the system on Sep.1 handled 1.223 million result reports and validations without anyone coming to the board to comment. Arnold in the plural "We're back". [and knreed also marked the Known Issues forum server problem thread as [RESOLVED] and followed right on with a GPU v6.49 announcement :D

Crunching On (And it's cooler now, so ramping up the Ghz ;P). http://bit.ly/WCGWKZ . Can you see it [not just me :)))))]
