The GPU beta WUs use 100% of a CPU on Nvidia cards. I think it has something to do with the drivers. My ATI card only uses 36%. ![]() They both use 95-97% of the GPU on my cards. Yeah, I opened up the Windows Task Manager and had a look at CPU usage. I currently have "max CPU usage" at 80%, in my BOINC processor preferences. When I'm running 7 CPU WU's and 2 GPU WU's (from Seti@Home), all my CPU usages run about 80-90%. When I'm running the Beta GPU (along with the same 7 CPU WU's), ALL the CPU usages peg out at 100%, not just the one that's processing with the GPU app. |

Sorry if this has been asked before, I have searched unsuccessfully so far.
----------------------------------------At long last I finally received 4 GPU Beta WU this morning. My problem is that they are just sitting in my work queue. I tried suspending all other WU in the queue including the 4 currently running but that meant nothing was being done. How do i get my GPU to do the work? Am running Vista, GPU is ATI GPU 0: ATI Radeon HD5x00 series (Redwood) (CAL version 1.4.1385, 1024MB, 520 GFLOPS peak) I have ticked the box in Manager, Advanced, preferences to allow GPU while computer is in use. But I did notice at the start of my messages there is an entry as follows: [cpu_sched] suspending GPU activity Probably this is what I have to change. My question is how? Where else could this instruction be set? Thanks in advance for any advice.......Peter ![]() |

Well, for those who asked, I finally got two GPU betas for my ATI Radeon 5670 with 1 GB GDDR5. They both bombed out with the dreaded 135 error.

Check to be sure that the GPU toggle value is either "on" or "use preferences" [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 20, 2012 3:36:59 AM] |

Thankyou, it fixed the "not running" problem. However all 4 errored out with the same message.

Hi everyone. I have completed a few valid workunits on my ATI 6870. I just watched what one was doing on MSI afterburner because the fan speed didn't increase. I saw at no time did it use more than 47% of the card. Would this be because i am using all of my CPU cores on other workunits (2500K) or do you think there is another setting i need to change. The information says (CPU time used = 60.933991). The task took about 5 minutes.
Thank you |

Will not have anything to do with not getting a --//-- AFAIK, the only problem with the 295/296 driver family is that, after coming out of a power-saving shutdown, the GPU apps won 't restart without shutting down/restarting the BOINC app. So long as you aren't using Windows power-saving mode (and/or manually turn off the monitor before it goes to "sleep"), there is no problem. I'm currently using 296.10 w/o sleep mode, and I'm happily cranking GPU WU's both here and at SETI@Home. |

Dumb question about how GPU WU's will be scored ....
From the beta tests so far, it looks like an equitable amount of both points and BOINC credits are being granted. However, for the purposes of earning badges, it looks like we'll be penalized severely for running GPU WU's, since the actual run time itself is so much faster than the equivalent CPU WU's. Are there any plans to "adjust" the run-times for badging purposes, or is that just part of the territory? |

This argument has already been beaten to death. If you wish to continue that line please take it to one of the threads where it's being discussed. Badges are based on run time, points are based on work completed.

To fix the - exit code -1073741515 (0xc0000135) install the AMD APP SDK runtime included in the AMD Catalyst Package . I used the latest Catalyst package (12.4).
----------------------------------------BOINC should have two new lines in the Messages Tab like the ones below(which are mine and will obviously be different) 13-05-2012 11:18:17 | | ATI GPU 0: Cedar (CAL version 1.4.1664, 1024MB, 986MB available, 262 GFLOPS peak) 13-05-2012 11:18:17 | | OpenCL: ATI GPU 0: Cedar (driver version CAL 1.4.1664, device version OpenCL 1.1 AMD-APP (831.4), 1024MB, 986MB available) ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz [Edit 2 times, last edit by Falconet at May 13, 2012 10:40:32 AM] |
