No one knows anything about gpu badges yet or how many days per badge (if changed). Still got awhile to go since they haven't even run Linux yet. IMO

? There's no GPU badge for HCC, that we know. Simple, a discreet science [phase], no matter what platform tallies for 1 badge. Not seen any signal, not even a hint it could be different... or as the French say more of the "Au contraire mon ami". Set your hopes to _No_ and if it happens, be pleasantly surprised... 12 hours for a bronze badge... now why would it be different when Viktors posted already that normal amounts of runtime will be achievable for all. How you mix that, CPU/GPU is up to you.
But, to re-hint, has this anything to do with beta testing? The discussion does not belong in this thread... it's for technical issues and resolution discovery. --//-- |

I continue to receive the following messages:
----------------------------------------3/21/2012 7:34:58 AM | World Community Grid | Reporting 3 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for NVIDIA GPU 3/21/2012 7:35:01 AM | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 3/21/2012 7:35:01 AM | World Community Grid | No tasks sent 3/21/2012 7:35:01 AM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Help Conquer Cancer 3/21/2012 7:35:01 AM | World Community Grid | Tasks are committed to other platforms What exactly does this mean? I have not received one WCG GPU BETA task yet. I realize its the beta but I have to wonder if something is wrong with my setup. I have two GPU's installed GTX560 ti and GT430. I have recieved many CPU betas for many different projects in the past week, but no GPU. Both GPU's run concurrently with other distributed computing projects without issue. Maybe I'm just unlucky not to have gotten any WU yet Thanks to anyone with any ideas. ![]() |

What software from ATI is needed to support crunching on their cards? (I don't own a suitable card but now have one on shortish-term loan).
----------------------------------------My plan is to try it on the machine in my "farm" that completes individual WUs in the shortest amount of CPU time, in order to maximise the proportion of time that the GPU will be working. That machine does not have HT and runs XP-32. falconet said (above) that he had to install the AMD APP SDK to get his HD5450 to run Primegrid, and his BOINC diagnostic messages included "(driver version CAL 1.4.1664, device version OpenCL 1.1 AMD-APP-SDK-v2.5 (793.1), 1024MB)". I just looked at http://developer.amd.com/sdks/AMDAPPSDK/downloads/Pages/default.aspx and the APP SDK version there is v2.6. However, the Windows download boxes show only Vista SP2/7, no mention of XP. Does anyone know whether these or earlier versions work under XP? Suggestion: Someone ( ) should write a tutorial & checklist on GPU crunching on WCG and put it in the FAQs.[Edit 1 times, last edit by Rickjb at Mar 22, 2012 6:51:37 AM] |

It would be more correct to say "AMD APP SDK Runtime" which does get loaded with the express install of the Catalyst driver suite, but because I only wanted to just update the display driver, I did a custom install and deselected everything I could except the driver. After reading the post by Falconet I did a complete install and the betas started processing. (Prior to this I only had the drivers provided by win7 installed.)

Thanks, skgiven and hendermd. I have the latest Catalyst driver pack scheduled for download by FDM in off-peak time tonight.
Possibly the Development part of the latest SDK won't run under XP, but it seems the runtime will. And falconet may have needed only Catalyst, not the APP SDK. hendermd's Catalyst installation experience is the sort of stuff that should be collated into a tutorial/checklist/FAQ - currently this stuff is scattered over too many threads. |
