Has the time for a WU to validate gotten longer? I'm talking about WU's where all in the quorum are in PV status and the validator task just has to process it. Before the upgrade, that usually happened quite quickly but it seems to take an hour or more now. Not a big thing but just wondering if there could be some setting that got changed to a longer default during the upgrade?

The server upgrade has increased the load on the database, but the validators have been often running an hour or more behind for a while now. I think it's time for some serious hardware upgrades to match the ever increasing load.

It is actually the transitioner that is behind. We have two instances running, but while we are loading new work into the BOINC db they fall behind. We have a changed scheduled for April 6th that will allow us to use another server for the backend processing for the BOINC system (going from 2 to 3 servers). Once we complete this we should be back to normal.

Kevin,
----------------------------------------Yesterday "the spill", you know I monitor, ran 3 years **, and Sunday did it's usual nightly spike. Something was behind yesterday and this morning, and if that's a knock on effect of modding work you're doing [pausing something by hand], and expect you to be doing for months to come, then we will readily accept... just set aside a bin of virtual prozac for the needy ;>) Just before midday clocked 16 minutes between report acknowledgement in client and validation. It could have been quicker as I only ran the RS page fetch every 5 minutes to see if things were normalizing. Yesterday earlier saw near instantaneous... for the spoiled :D cheers -- SekeRob edit: ** The midnight lock out period [it seemed a bit late] did not last 45 minutes, and that at 450 CPU years validated, which I deem pretty good. Looks like my rig has been declared trusted as well - Just got two repair jobs, each with 4 days deadline.
Meaning that we are now back to repair jobs with short deadlines on trusted rigs. |

Right now the transitioner is about 45 minutes behind. We are currently loading work. Once we stop loading work, the transitioners will catch up.
FYI - this is all automated (cron) - we don't run these by hand unless we are investigating issues or doing maintenance. |
