For one of course, if the coincidence matches you with a like device, then you'd see random validations. Also of course, we do not know if techs tweaked anything to make the pairings increase overall validity or reduce bottlenecking [clients that wait long on a fitting wingman slowing things down], unfavorable to your device [I'm all ear to official word].
With multiple devices at disposal, it's not a long way to let a round capable VINA device do those engine driven projects and let your A-socket do others.... a suggestion you'll have thought of. --//-- |

Hi SekeRob,
----------------------------------------indeed, I am currently considering to switch this host to another project. I asked you during the week-end regarding the Boinc version for Ubuntu 10.04, since the official depot is still offering Boinc 6.10.17 and not a more recent version. Probably I did something wrong ! ... Which depot should I add to fetch a newer (but reliable) Boinc version? In advance, I thank you. Yves |

Was that in the 6.10.17 thread?... Sorry missed it, but there is a build I had at the time... 6.10.59 IIRC. There is a launchpad full deb build of 6.10.58 for 10.04LTS: http://pkgs.org/ubuntu-10.04/getdeb-apps-amd6...-1~getdeb1_amd64.deb.html with mirror links at bottom. Get's right up to WCG level of support and ready to GPU (when the 1st WCG app gets to go public). Once installed, Synaptic will actually will see it for uninstall, no need to add a repository.
------------------------------------------//-- edit: And the ppa I've used in past: https://launchpad.net/~pkg-boinc/+archive/ppa They're up to 6.12.33 which is perfect [works great on 11.10 and is what I'm running] [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 5, 2012 3:36:53 PM] |

At end of every position included in a task... each position having a variable run time [non-deterministic calculations]. See FAQs in Start Here to read detail and ways to increase the minimum interval of saving these to disk. A current task I have has 52 ligands noted in the header (see tasks slot stderr.txt file), with a 4 hour run time projection, meaning about one per 4.6 minutes average for this task. --//-- Hello Sekerob, Thank you for your answer. But I'm afraid I don't really understand how to crease the minimum interval of saving these to disk... Could you explain to me where is the FAQ you mean please ? Thank you, Jean-Philippe |

Item 1-Z-7 of the Start Here FAQ index as stickied over all forums explains: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=11332 --//-- Thank you for your explanations. However, this seems very difficult to me to change things in folders, ... So I think that, except if I have a wrong idea of this (if it is more simple than it seems) I'm going to focus on projects that I know the saving checkpoints are compatible with my usage of my computer (some minutes to 1 or 1.5 hour each time). "Say No to Schistosoma" seems to have large intervals between 2 saving checkpoints, or intervals that I don't understand how to reduce them, so I think it's just not for me. Thank you. Hi SekeRob,
----------------------------------------warm thanks for your meaningful advice. I finally updated Boinc using ppa:pkg-boinc/ppa. It ran perfectly on two hosts. I will upgrade the third machine tomorrow morning (the host is in my office). Cheers, Yves |

Because I think the poor performance of my device may be due to the lack of update... Thank you, Jean-Philippe |

Depends on the version you have?
If you have an older version you could try here, http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadAgain.do This is WCG's recommended Boinc Client for WCG. Alternatively, Boinc Manager (Advanced View), Help, About Boinc Manager, Click on the Berkeley link (or here). Click Download to go to the download page. Then download Berkeley's recommended version of Boinc, for all Boinc projects. |

I have a WU that shows more CPU time that run time. Here's a screenshot in case a tech might be interested.
