Loved it Chris! It does tend to "reinforce" a couple of stereotypes though - that us guys don't read instructions (until forced to) and that it had to be a guy that would create a 156 page set of instructions to begin with!! Enjoy your new toy. ![]() |

Enjoy your new toy. ![]() No kidding i hate instructions!! ![]() Yea, but at least Chris did end up reading his. The first time I swapped out the fan in my laptop, I never looked at the online instructions. After all, there were only so many screws that I could take out. And when it comes to asking for directions, at least we have Google Maps to save us from that these days! ![]() |

Good Morning MOT Congratulations xroule! There is a "new" virus going around that I have been going around cleaning up ("Win 7 home security 2012"); it is nasty. These are not the kiddy hackers of old. This is a for-profit hack done by professionals. That amounts to more hours a day than I like; though the money is stacking up (small pile for sure) for one of those nifty GPU cards (and bigger power supply) when we find out which one makes the most sense for the GPU project. The advice "Keep your operating systems up to date as well as your virus protection" and "Don't open email attachments that you were not expecting regardless of who they appear to be from" and "stay away from questionable websites" could not have been more relevant in the past than they are today. Everyone Have A Great Day! It is about time One of your friends in Texas. ![]() |

RT, do any of these viruses result in an error that causes my laptop to give me a big blue screen with an error message? I still get this every so often (more than I like) and I have to reboot every time. The message says something about stopping windows to prevent any possible damage and a dump is being taken. It also suggests the problem may be caused by new hardware or software, and to remove either/both to resolve the problem. I don't have either.
----------------------------------------BTW, I installed a new IE yesterday and I no longer get the message "Microsoft Feeds Synchronization has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." from Windows. It did not clear up the "blue screen" problem. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 12, 2012 6:50:54 PM] |

My guess though is that it is likely a true hardware issue. Perhaps associated with heat. Get the exact error message you see when you get the "blue screen of death" and perhaps we can glean something from that. In the meantime I suggest you go here , download the scanner and see if that can elucidate the situation. One of your friends in Texas ![]() |
