I decided to see if I could do something to reduce the number of WUs going into PV for my laptop. I filtered the list of WUs in progress for the laptop, and then I review each WU to see if a wingman was in PV state or IP. I suspended all of the WUs that are not preventing the wingman from having a valid result, and allowing those where the wingman is in PV state to run.
I have not decided whether or not I want to do this on the quads. |

Hello MOT! Thought I'd drop in and say hi. Been a while since I've posted here through the mix of school and life. I've been folding on and off at EVGA and came back to crunching again recently. Anyway, just checking in to see how everyone is doing. ![]() I see your team is crunching@EVGA. Does this mean you work for or are otherwise associated with EVGA. I picked up an EVGA graphics card about a week ago and it has been doing a good job. Affiliated support forum moderator and game server admin, but not an official employee. Hmmm, game server admin? My son uses the computer with the EVGA card and he is pretty active with online games. Do you have any recommendations of games he should give a try? |

I have not decided whether or not I want to do this on the quads. Well, this approach will do what you want but will need you to keep doing this every couple of days or so. Also, with tasks suspended, you'll find that BOINC won't update as regularly so you'll want to do a manual update daily. What might be simpler would be to lengthen the size of your queue. That will mean that any given WU will have sat on your machine longer before getting crunched increasing the odds that the wingman already has or at least will crunch it sooner so that it's not in PV as long. If you go beyond 3-3.5 days, you'll want to increase the value for minutes between switching apps to a large enough value that BOINC is sure to crunch your oldest WUs first (they'll be running high priority). |

Well Keith, I already have a one day queue and I do not want to increase that since, if I am not able get on the system for some reason, I want to keep the queue short so I don't keep too many wingmen hung up waiting for me to complete WUs.
In addition, I am only processing HCC at this time and the time before a WU is due is only 3 or 4 days. I don't mind going to the BOINC manager to manually do the update on the machines where I am managing the WU execution. |
