RT,
----------------------------------------The EVGA card I got for the computer with which we were having problems with the display is EVGA - GEFORCE GTX 550 TI and I did pay $199.99 for it. I did get some information today that said I should a filter for all the air coming into the case to prevent problems with dust building up on internal components. We have not had any problems since installing the new card, but I will need to look for a filter that will be compatible with the HP system. I will need to look for one for the Lenovo system as well, and for the HP quad. Let me wish you a Happy Birthday as well, Dave [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 23, 2011 8:06:08 AM] |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh well. The ramblings of an old man. (I had a birthday the other day and it was a nice round number) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() ![]() Thanks for the happies guys. ![]() No, it was not as round as 100. ![]() Congratulations Gerald and hne12359!! ![]() ![]() Thanks for the info on GPUs. I want to try something pretty soon. Saw in the news that the Senate has this bill to block Airline Baggage fees. What is next? A Senate bill to set diaper change schedules? Hasn't the federal government got some more important things to deal with...say like deficit? Haven't they horsed up enough already? Don't they think the free market/competition will sort that out? More regulations...that's a plan. (I have seen good plans and this isn't one) I heard that Kobe is upset that he won't get his $400,000 endorsement money because that company that put out the power bracelets folded (for lack of proof that the bracelets improved power or balance or kept werewolves, or zombies away). Shall we take up a collection? OK..enough sarcasm this morning. Good ole Thanksgiving (no not Fall Festival -- Thanksgiving) is just around the corner. Can't wait till all the family is here together again. Warms the heart. Everone have a GREAT day... if for no other reason, because one of your friends in Texas asked you to. ![]() |

Best I can figure is that Intel will come out with another set of I7s in the spring. I suppose that they could not get them ready this year.
----------------------------------------Looks like they will be 77W instead of the current 95W. Speculation is that they will be 6 core with HT clock in the high 3 Ghz and have more memory paths, be unlocked, etc. Sounds like another nice mid-life kicker to me. I did not read anything about pricing but would expect them to be about the same as the current 2600k and 2700k (between $3 and $4 hundred). I wonder where we can get the most disease cure power for the money considering the cost and the electric bill; In these new CPUs or in GPUs. Always the question though. I suppose the situation is no less clear than ever. (how confusing is that?) Let me be more nearly clear: I suppose the situation is as unclear as ever. ![]() Again thanks for the info Keith, dkt and others. I am still wandering around it the dark here dispite your best efforts. ![]() Oh...dkt, I have been known to just use plain old central air filters sat in front of the main intakes on the computers. Works pretty well. (Rube Goldburg I know but it is elegant. ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by RT at Nov 23, 2011 4:39:22 PM] |

We passed 25 million points for the month in 23 days. That's two "extra" million point days for this month.
