keithhenry, I agree with RT although I do not have near the processing power he has. Right now I have four machines, 2 quads and 2 duos, and when I was going for the sapphire for CEP2, I was running CEP2 on all cores (12) with no problem. Now I am running DSFL on all cores. I want to reach sapphire for DSFL before I switch all back to HCC to see how many years I can get on that one before it completes. I have no problems with the amount of RAM (the smallest is 3 GB for the laptop) and I use a half day queue.

Yes, before CEP2 came along, I would run one project until I hit sapphire and then move on to the next. Very simple which is how I like it. However, until I get to sapphire on CEP2, I'm going to have to play these games to make that happen as soon as I can since I can't guarantee the project would last long enough for me. That special profile option WCG added for CEP2 would work best if I ran with no queue since I could set it to run max two at a time and then the machine would be able to get two more. I think the memory constraints I have are the biggest obstacle as I have to ensure that no more than two CEP2 run at the same time. So, it looks like I will need to look into getting another 2GB. That does raise a question for me - is the additional memory a chip you plug in to an existing board or such? I'm use to the little slots in laptops that you put the memory card in. I would think desktops would be the same way.

I would think desktops would be the same way. Same basic deal as with laptops. Just Memory sticks you put in. You just have to make sure that you order the memory for your exact machine. This is a pair of sticks for some random mach...w you what they look like You can google for memory for (insert your machine here) and it will tell you what you need. Or Email me your machine's exact description and I will look it up for you and pass you the URL of the cheapest place I can find it. |

Good Morning Team and visitors Congratulations parmesan I have been eyeing a big Dell laptop. Dell Any Comments from you Laptop guys ![]() I don't know anything about Dell as I have 2 machines from HP and 2 from Lenovo. As far as RAM goes, I am kind of out of date. The last I knew memory was still provided on a card you would plug in to the desktop when you open it. There are various manufacturers and you just have to get a memory card compatible with your machine. |
