...task assignment logic to send specific tasks to best equipped devices and at what mix [the mix is important]. Further into the future BOINC server and client releases will have that skill. Sek, that sounds great and must be a big and complex modification in the software... How would it find out, which mix fits best to the device where it's running? I can only imagine one way to do it - that the client would run different mixes and compare them till it finds the most performant one. Did somebody already run any tests with different mixes and got different results? I'm usually running single project on a device (with HT on) and would switch to mixes if it really makes sense. I would do a test - run first one project for 1 week, then another project second week, then mix of them in the third week. But I have no idea which two projects should I take. But I hope first that somebody has done this kind of comparison and I don't have to do it again. Please let me know! |

Sek, The weight in the feeder has been increased by 2x :) As for the fair share 'All Projects' right now it is not feasible and would require code changes to the server backend. Also, it would require more conversations from our team on how we would like to implement that type of change. So as you can probably tell from the previous sentences it would take time as we have not thought about making that type of change yet. It has not been on the radar so to speak. But since it was brought up I have put a place holder on our list of items to fix/enhance so it will not get lost. Thanks, -Uplinger Uplinger, In hindcast, you've hit the sweet-point to certainly have a good balance [to me] of C4CW+DSFL getting about 50/50 on multi day crunching. Particular the quad with the CEP2 mixed in [always 1 or 2 running] seems to have a ~1% efficiency improvement. 1% is 1 hour CPU time a day for a quad. --//-- |
