Re: "The survivors"

I found the GTX 480 for $239.98 with no shipping or tax.
EVGA 015-P3-1480-KR GeForce GTX 480 PCI-Express 2.0 x16 Video Card w/ 1536 MB GDDR5 RAM
I was confused about the -KR suffix until I found the evga warranty page.
http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/Default.asp.
The -KR suffix means it has a 3 year limited warranty.
The suffix may be the most important info in the product name.

Another reason why I bought this card is because it requires a 600W power supply minimum and I have a 650W.
Some of the newer cards would exceed the 650W rating.

Re: "The survivors"

Here are some real numbers based on recognized benchmarks.
Data from Excel is difficult to format on the forum so a vertical bar "|" was used to delimit the fields.
This is easier to read if you copy and paste into Excel and use Text to Column to populate the cells.
(Thanks for the tip grumpygrampy)

These are my numbers and to the best of my knowledge are accurate.
The i7-2700K is rated at 3.5 but is overclocked to 4.3 and will be further overclocked in the near future.
The i7-2670QM is rated at 2.2 but has the Turbo feature and runs at 2.6-2.7 most of the time while crunching at 100%.
The Pentium 4 will most likely be retired this year and replaced with something a bit more modern.

Processor | OS | #Cores | Whetstone per Core | Drystone per Core | Total FP MIPS | Total Int MIPS
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 830 Processor @ 2.80GHz | W7 | 4 | 2,390 | 7,124 | 9,560 | 28,496
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2700K CPU @ 4.29GHz ] | W7 | 8 | 4,118 | 15,247 | 32,944 | 121,976
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz | W7 | 1 | 1,231 | 2,293 | 1,231 | 2,293
AMD Phenom(tm) 9750 Quad-Core Processor @ 2.40GHz | W7 | 4 | 1,994 | 4,951 | 7,976 | 19,804
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.59GHz | W7 | 8 | 2,242 | 9,308 | 17,936 | 74,464
Sum Total | NA | 25 Cores | NA | NA | 69,647 Floating Point MIPS | 247,033 Integer MIPS

How do these stats compare to yours?

Re: "The survivors"

grumpgrampy,
Those are some pretty impressive numbers you got there.
As confirmed by the 10 badges earned.
And, I assume that you have factored in the reduced % CPU time (so that your beads/rods don't overheat).

Did you know there's an EVGA team on WCG? Crunching@EVGA.

I'm sure they appreciate your support.

Re: "The survivors"

little mermaid,
Rumor has it that you were caught in a fisherman's net off the coast of Sweden and that is why we didn't hear from you for a while.

grumpygrampy,
Yes, I have seen them on the forums and listed in the results.
Look at 177 and 180 (the numbers change).
http://www.sig.net78.net/
I wouldn't care if it was made by Playskool as long as it is compatible with HCC GPU crunching.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?authk...mp;authkey=COmlndUK#gid=0
It ranks high in the hierarchy at
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd...graphics-card,2857-7.html
And the power requirement of 600 watts minimum works as I have a 650W power supply.
The price is right.
The only remaining question is - will it fit in the case and clear the NB cooler on the z68 chip?

Re: "The survivors"

Desperation overcomes rationale.
There is certainly no malice intended (never, ever).
We care about you as a visitor and cancer survivor.
And your absence is noticed.
Not that you are accountable to anyone.
Just enjoy your visits.

Re: "The survivors"

Oh, thank you. I know you never intend any malice - nor do I.
I keep an eye on you, and if there should happen to be something I can comment on, I'm there.
Most of the time you talk beyond me in your hitech lab.

It was this referral to Sweden, rcc.
Yes, I made a trip to Sweden, and I linked to some photos I took there,
and GTCola2010
- a young alert Base Camper -
happened - between a score or more of photos
to zoom in on my friend's Labrador
- so I'm afraid I got a bit paranoid
Very well, it's not to stack bricks.

And, yes, I care about you, too, rcc, and *The Survivors*
