Re: "The survivors"

The Maybach Exelero is about US$8M but it lacks the muscle the Bugatti Veyron has.
You can buy a reproduction of the Exelero on a Dodge Viper platform for a lot less and can't tell the difference visually.
For the price of one Exelero you could buy three or four Veyrons.
Maybach has had problems making a profit and will cease as a brand in 2013.
Maybach's parent company Daimler will fill the void with more expensive Mercedes Benz models.

Re: "The survivors"

There is a very interesting thread in the chat group regarding a "New stats program".
Although the thread is a year old I just discovered it.
If you use Excel to track results this may be of interest to you and I recommend that you read the thread.

Re: "The survivors"

At this time there are 21 badges in six flavors.
It would be cool to have 21 sapphire badges, but that will never happen for me.
I'm not willing to mortgage the farm to buy more computers.
Already have 5 computers and can justify only 2-3 of them.

Re: "The survivors"

Excel spreadsheets and converting run time.

I wanted to convert the run time into an integer as is done in my signature.
My run time was 20:347:20:1:18 which converted to 660772878 seconds.
To convert seconds to integer years I divided the number of seconds by the number of projects(20),
and the result divided by the number of seconds in a year.
660772878/20 = 33038643.9
33038643.9/31536000 = 1.05 = run time / project

To verify that my spreadsheet had no errors I wanted to convert from seconds to 20:347:20:1:18 format.
So, I converted 660772878 seconds back to years, days, hours, minutes, and seconds and put them in adjacent cells.
The cells were then joined and delimited with colons.
Three formulas were used:

=TRUNC(O4) truncated the numbers to whole numbers and discarded any remainder.

=MOD(Q4,$H$2) modulo gave me the remainder and discarded the whole number.

=CONCATENATE(AG4,":",AH4,":",AI4,":",AJ4,":",AK4) gave me the string with colons 20:347:20:1:18

I hope this helps someone.

Re: "The survivors"

nasher,
I ran across a thread you started a few months ago in the chat forum in which you asked a question and did not get fair treatment by a fellow member.
On a different thread I also had an occasion to experience a similar event with the same individual.
As did little mermaid on another thread.
It appears that asking questions can lead to deterioration of a discussion..
I have written a post because of our "experiences" but have not posted it yet.
I want to sleep on this overnight and see if I still feel the same tomorrow.

I understand your feelings, rcc rose
I think you should try to let go of it and refer to your motto in your signature - my favorite Facebook Filosofi rose
- as you may have seen in my replies, it is difficult to handle, because:
To get mad at the right person
to the right degree
for the right reason
at the right time
is an art form

Re: "The survivors"

gretchch,
Wonder what the coolant is?

Fluorinert bet its expensive though? sad

Isn't the standard advice to ignore the idiots/rude/arrogant types, better to surround yourself with happy contented people, let the misery's alone, or at least dont take them seriously? my two cents tongue

Re: "The survivors"

Sunfolk,

There are several coolants that are not too expensive on the market. Feser One, PrimoChill PC ICE, and Fluid XP + Extreme. They all claim to be non-conductive as long as they are not mixed with other fluids and as long as they are kept dust and dirt free.

Re: "The survivors"

Hi Burno,

Those coolants look like they replace water in a traditional liquid cooling setup (pump ,heat exchanger etc). At $15 dollars, its probably not much more than de-ionised /distilled water.

Fluorinert is different, you put your entire computer into the tank of liquid cool
and if I was to do that I would want it to be reassuringly expensive wink

Re: "The survivors"

Getting good advice from other members.
My complaint is not that there are trolls in forums, but that once they enter a thread it is poisoned and it becomes impossible to get a fair question answered.
I am not a turnip that fell off of the truck yesterday.
I have been on WCG since 2007 and before that United Devices going back many years (Remember LigandFit?).
Also spent a lot of time on Usenet in the cancer groups trying to learn more about my cancer.
Usenet became Uselessnet because of the trolls.
Just the other day I was thinking how nice it is to have forums at WCG that do not contain angry little people that destroy the usefulness of the forum.
And then I asked a question on another forum and got hammered by someone.
One kind member answered my question.
One unkind member told me I was only allowed to post ideas, not criticism.
It was a question not a criticism.
It poisoned the experience for me.
Then I read a thread where this same unkind member mistreated little mermaid because she asked a question.
Then I came across a thread where this same unkind member tore into nasher for asking a question.
There is a pattern there.
Asking a question will get you attacked.
That is nonsense.
I find that unacceptable.
