Re: "The survivors"

Waiting for biopsy results for a suspicious mole on my back.
Unlike a freckle a mole can kill you.

Also diagnosed with early signs of macular degeneration.
Have floaters in my left eye which are a nuisance when looking at a white computer screen.

Re: "The survivors"

The biopsy is positive for Melanoma.
I expect to have surgery on March 19th.
Early detection is important.
I encourage everyone to learn about the ABCDEs of Melanoma.

Re: "The survivors"

Hopefully it was caught early. With your navy history, sunburn from being shirtless on deck a long time ago comes to mind.

I have twice a year dermatology visits, and alway get 2-3 moles on the back removed. (did i mention how hard it is to change a bandaid on your own back?)

The ABCDE system :
Asymmetry: One half of the abnormal area is different from the other half.
Borders: The edges of the growth are irregular.
Color: Color changes from one area to another, with shades of tan, brown, or black, and sometimes white, red, or blue. A mixture of colors may appear within one sore.
Diameter: The spot is usually (but not always) larger than 6 mm in diameter -- about the size of a pencil eraser.
Evolution: The mole keeps changing appearance.

Re: "The survivors"

Can't blame the Navy for this one because we had to wear a colored jersey to identify our job, which told the air boss why we were on the flight deck during operations.
It was years of fishing and boating while living in Florida.
I got a double dose of sunshine due to the reflection from the water.
Got more than my share of sunburns.
Then there was the open electric sunroof on the Supra.
Almost forgot my swimming pool, which I used after the sun went down.

The only tan I get now is from the white background of my PC monitor.

Re: "The survivors"

Did anyone notice that the Projects on their Statistics By Projects page have changed order? crying

At this time BOINC is on autopilot until HCC and HFCC run out of work.

Re: "The survivors"

It is time to shut down each PC and do some dust removal.
I monitor temperatures but always take action before the temp gets high enough to cause a problem.
Do not like to lose run time but think an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

RCC_Survivor passes 10,000,000 BOINC Credits

Still running 2 CPU and 6 GPU&CPU threads on an i7 for the HCC project.
I just passed 15 years of run time for HCC.
HCC has about 50 days of tasks left; after which my results will drop significantly.
