Maybe I have an explanation for some of the wu reduction. I noticed that I have an unusullly large number of priority wu that cause lost of wu to be stopped some time minutes before completion. On one machine I had over 20 wu on hold. That screws up stats pretty fast. ![]() Rej I think you might be on to something Rej. I've seen that on my machines too. It seems like the priority jobs manage to hit at a time where they finish after end of day which pushes the points for them and the regular jobs they delayed into the next day. I haven't noticed this when the priority jobs hit early in the day. Whatever the case, it was enough to get us a new points record today. Also, while we didn't set a new record for results or runtime, we did break the one year of crunching in a day mark today for the first time in a VERY long time. EDIT: Just happened to notice the global stats for Thursday and Friday showed the same drop and spike we had. As I recall now, there was a notice about the validators on one sever being down for about seven hours at the end of Thursday. I didn't pay it much mind as I thought that it would just mean a small delay until the validators on one of the other severs got to the WUs. It would seem that WU's must be allocated to validators on specific servers and that delayed some WUs getting marked valid until early on Friday, thus the dip and bounce on these two days. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by keithhenry at Aug 27, 2011 2:04:35 PM] |

Very cool you two. I was curious about that; but never did the digging you guys did. Thank You. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Congratulations Gerald, parmesian and Lawrencehardin ![]() ![]() ![]() dkt... I am at a loss to understand your DIRECTTV thing. Mine works exactly as I outlined and I thought they were all basically the same. I suppose that there could be different sattelites that work differently. Hum..guess that is at least part of the difference of opinion on the two providers. Had no idea. I especially like that option of "Only HD" subset. My DirectTV does not have that either. We will have another 108F day without rain and I will likely loose another few cedar trees. ![]() Everyone have a great day. |

Losing cedar trees? I planted some of which only one survived - the gophers got 'em. I got them from another IBMer who retired on purpose. This tree looks to be very healthy and I think the moist ocean air may help. We do not provide any water, and now we have the Cedar, a Hollywood Juniper, an orange tree, a fig tree, several Live Oaks (which really do good up here), and a bunch of Eucalyptus trees. We also have different pine trees; one is tall and skinny (we will keep), and the others are either or need to be cut down. I want to get rid of as many of the eucalyptus as possible since they are on all of the neighbor's properties.

<snip> I planted some of which only one survived - the gophers got 'em. </snip> About the only advantage of the exceptionally hard and rocky soil where I live is that we never get gophers (or ground squirrels or moles). Some things grow well in it; most things don't. Landscaping is a real challenge. Fence post holes are often dug with jackhammers. The contractors call it "nature's concrete".- D |
