OK. Now I get it. 1 beta per physical processor and NOT per virtual processor. Thanks for clearing up the misconception, guys You get 1 beta per thread. If you have a quad with ht you get 8 betas. Hex with ht 12 betas. And so on.

b) won't help. Increasing WU cache did help me as my cache was between 0.01 and 0.05; remember you pick up 1 of each type of Beta per core/thread (if you have HT), so 6 cores and 3 types is up to 18 Betas, but only so long as your cache is high enough; some tasks were 12h, so the default of 0.25 or even 0.50 would have meant a restriction in Betas you could get.I adjusted my CEP2 output down to increase the ratio of beta units in the cache ... and I think, you got less CEP2 Betas because of that; I think you need to have CEP2 selected to get CEP2 Betas, and the number you select determines the quantity of CEP2 Betas you get.[Edit 1 times, last edit by skgiven at Jul 3, 2011 2:08:49 AM] |

b) won't help. In this (admittedly unusual) situation, it made a huge difference. I have a P4 2.6HT which had 4, and then 6, betas in its cache almost constantly for the past 2 days. The HPF2 jobs ran 22 hours, so on its original cache setting, it would never have downloaded most of those other betas at all. |

Well, it was a nice shower while it lasted. I picked up 3 CPU days on my march to silver. Running 6 cores on a Mac Pro.

What record(?)... based on morning stats we're heading today for ~9,500 CPU days (27 Years). This morning 23k Results validated for 14.3 years. Absent extensive failure reports it appears like we're heading in the right direction. --//-- NB: No, don't report failures here, report them there :D Turns out, that Saturday has set an almost unbeatable new record of 46,029 results validated for 29.8 years or 10,870 CPU days. Amazing --//-- PS, personal day validation record now 3.85 days PLUS Beta PV Jail stands now at 40 hours |

PS, personal day validation record now 3.85 days PLUS Beta PV Jail stands now at 40 hours Saturday showed me a 30 day personal record. That's easily a third again what I would normally see and almost all of that went to Beta. Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

I adjusted my CEP2 output down to increase the ratio of beta units in the cache ... and I think, you got less CEP2 Betas because of that; I think you need to have CEP2 selected to get CEP2 Betas, and the number you select determines the quantity of CEP2 Betas you get.I had production CEP2 units coming down in the mix of the beta units for other projects, so I turned the number of CEP2 I was allowed down. I never got any betas for CEP2. I just assumed it had to do with CEP2 uploading differently. |
