Silly Issue, Beta Priorty

was working on a repair CEP job, single core p4, 50% done, got a beta HCC job, 2 day return, est run time 4 hrs, the CEP job is due 12 hr BEFORE the beta, cep was preempted, beta running high priorty. when returned, cep restarted, downloaded a HPF beta, cep again paused, beta running high priorty, may have to opt this box out of beta long enough to finish repair. Like I said, silly issue, will check status again in AM and try to get repair job done. running 1.8 day cache on this box.

They call me Murphy Killer, give it to fred, if it is going to mess up, he will make it ;)

CEP job is not due until 3 Jul 13:36 UTC so is not (Yet) in deadline race mode

Re: Silly Issue, Beta Priorty

Yes, fredski, you are Thé Murphy Killer. It's unfortunate that the deadline is so near the cache setting which you've probably tuned to keep it in a ''reliable'' state. Since BOINC is backfilling even when there's few minutes short of the cache setting, those tasks [which will be multiple hours long] will lift your total cache above 2 days, so that's why you see these HP events.

With that knowledge I've been running cache on 1 day for longer, so my cache never bloats past that special 2 day reliability rating factor. Now being beta, I did same and set cache to 1.75 and me beta tasks are running havoc with the scheduler same as for you. Being on the 6.12.33 testing version on me duo, it's not much better than the 6.10.59 on Linux quad and since all tasks are running in HP, work fetch is automatically postponed.

dropped cache to 1 day on this box, forgot about "Shortest run time first" rule when hp kicks in ;)
