AnnieKenes,
----------------------------------------for betas, you can't cache too many WUs. You can only have 1 WU per core per beta project. We had 3.5 beta project release at once this time (CEP2 got a partial release before it was turned off) Most people will be finish with they beta WUs today. The rest will be tomorrow (because they didn't start them right away) before repair jobs are released. ![]() |

b) won't help.
----------------------------------------What helps is more cores and making sure your internet is available 24/7. ![]() |

Since about 10 hours ago (about 06:15 UTC) I did not get any new Beta work.
----------------------------------------Let's see if there will be another shower of Beta work. It's still hard to earn Beta badges, just this time there are a lot of credits to earn. What about badge hunters having a holiday at the moment with their computer shut off? When they return from their holiday they might have some regrets. Tomorrow a nice golden Beta badge will appear for me.
Greetings,
Arjan ![]() |

nly, they won't regret it because we will be having a repeat performance on tuesday. So, they will be more focus on the betas they will be getting. On tuesday, we will see all of our current active project being release in the beta, so that release will be twice as big.

Thanks for the explanation. I thought it was 1 per thread and not core. ![]() Crunching in memory of my Mum PEGGY, cousin ROPPA and Aunt AUDREY. |

I'm confused now. Quad core with hyperthreading = 4 cores / 8 threads, no?

hyperthreading makes 1 core look like 2

Actually, BOINC does not know the difference so it will report for a 4 physical cores HT CPU:
4/16/2011 8:20:45 AM Processor: 8 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz [Family 6 Model 26 Stepping 4] Maybe a general lingo change could be adopted and hence forth we speak like BOINC prints it.... 1 Beta per processor. The exception was CEP2, for these 2 per processor were allotted. --//-- |

OK. Now I get it.
----------------------------------------1 beta per physical processor and NOT per virtual processor. Thanks for clearing up the misconception, guys ![]() ![]() Crunching in memory of my Mum PEGGY, cousin ROPPA and Aunt AUDREY. |
