FWIW I have 5 still in PV jail. They are all CEP2 and the wingpersons are stuck there too.

The No Replies and Too Late's continue to Vanish: My β No replies are now down to 4, Too Late's down to 6 and Valid's down to 85. PV still at 15. Of course we won't know until the next stats update if there was any credit granted for these Too Late's, No Replies or PV's. The answer for me is that 5+ days of Too Lates simply disappeared with no credit. |

The pending valid's will get credit. The no-reply's will not get credit since they have not been returned so there is nothing to award credit on in the database. The too-lates might not - we will look at that before we run another beta and do our best to award credit for them.
We will look at our big red button auto script that should have been running for the beta's to award credit. It appears that it did not do what it should have. I've run the manual version of the script and 1132 results were just awarded credit. I'll run it again in the morning. My apologies for results that were removed from the database before I ran the script. |

The too-lates might not - we will look at that before we run another beta and do our best to award credit for them. Or you could just set realistic deadlines. What's the point of having WUs on Fri with a Sat deadline that they can't possibly meet, when nobody is going to be around to do anything with the results until Tue anyhow? BETA_ op992_ 00009_ 3-- 640 Too Late 1/07/11 12:08:38 4/07/11 12:37:03 47.15 104.6 / 0.0 |

In most tests (yes, I participated in quite a lot betas) there were "Too Late" results, which remained in that state until the database deleted their records. I experienced a grace period (usually 1 day?) where they quite immediately turned valid, but never saw them turn valid if they arrived later - they remained "Too Late" until they vanished. So that grace period as long as they are in the database sounds like fairytale to me - it might be true for some selected persons but definitely not for everyone, at least never for me. And I think that WCG staff has more urgent tasks than to scan the database for some WUs which are not honoured enough - especially during beta tests! That's beta testing - we have to reckon that not all WUs count for our records. If we want to make sure that all efforts go into our statistics we should opt out for betas and do production WUs only. So I think complaining about not honoured beta WUs is some sort of wasting time... |

If you are not happy about an aspect of crunching at WCG, I think you should voice your concern. That way something might get done about it in the long run. If you say nothing, nothing will happen.
What's the point of even having a forum if you are going to say nothing? While some Too Late tasks were apparently given credit, Too Late 01/07/11 10:07:44 05/07/11 10:57:26 10.81 136.2 / 136.2, I certainly saw no increase in stats credit since Sunday night, and I still have 15 tasks in PV (5days worth). Some of these tasks were even returned within 24h: Project Name: Beta - The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 Created: 01/07/11 Name: BETA_E202698_755_C.25.C23H14SSe.00019855.3.set1d06 Minimum Quorum: 2 Replication: 2 Try Validation Scheduled for Validation Result Name App Version Number Status Sent Time Time Due / Return Time CPU Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit BETA_ E202698_ 755_ C.25.C23H14SSe.00019855.3.set1d06_ 0-- 640 Pending Validation 02/07/11 03:06:43 03/07/11 03:05:16 5.28 109.1 / 0.0 BETA_ E202698_ 755_ C.25.C23H14SSe.00019855.3.set1d06_ 1-- 640 Pending Validation 02/07/11 03:06:40 02/07/11 16:11:50 8.55 95.9 / 0.0 Project Name: Beta - The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 Created: 01/07/11 Name: BETA_E202698_735_C.25.C22H14OSeSi.00020030.0.set1d06 Minimum Quorum: 2 Replication: 2 Try Validation Scheduled for Validation Result Name App Version Number Status Sent Time Time Due / Return Time CPU Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit BETA_ E202698_ 735_ C.25.C22H14OSeSi.00020030.0.set1d06_ 0-- 640 Pending Validation 02/07/11 03:06:15 02/07/11 16:46:55 3.74 109.8 / 0.0 BETA_ E202698_ 735_ C.25.C22H14OSeSi.00020030.0.set1d06_ 1-- 640 Pending Validation 02/07/11 03:06:13 03/07/11 02:20:43 3.36 88.3 / 0.0 I can't see that situation remaining; one of the techs will surely run the Validation routine and we will be granted credit, any time now - unless there was some mix-up and these have already been awarded credit and the tasks just not cleared from PV through normal mechanisms So much for Tuesdays Beta re-run Maybe Today |

So much for Tuesdays Beta re-run Maybe Today As, from what I'm interpretting, there was an issue when the CEP2 Beta was started (and hence, why it was cut short and the validator turned off, causing the above mentioned issues), I'm guessing that yesterday was being used to try and work out/iron out those issues. So, yes, I'm hoping that if not today, then tomorrow... |
