Sadly we've had a significant retirement from the UK team - haggistheoriginal who crunched at 6.5 RT days per cd in September.

A strange silence seems to have descended on this thread.
---------------------------------------- We won't get the new members we need if we're not continually on the first page of "Team threads" and preferably the first page of "Recent threads". I'm loathe to start posting about the weather so........ ![]() |

Did anyone else see that BBC4 program on Kenny Everett's life the other night? No - but I'll check it out on iplayer. ![]() Just sent a HFCC Work unit back that took 32.45 hours on my Quad Core I have a slightly different problem with one of my machines. Having increased cache to a max 10 days to ensure I got my hands on enough HCMD2 WUs to make Ruby, BOINC has got itself tied up in knots. Even though the cache is back to 5 days the latest HCMD2 WU, which take ~ 6hrs to complete, is estimated to take 39hrs 37 mins. I seem to remember reading something that said it will eventually correct its estimates but it could take 3 weeks! ![]() |

10 years crunching for the team recently passed!
Does anyone have much experience with processor upgrades here? Flushed with victory in upgrading my inspiron 6000, I did the same with an inspiron 6400 with even greater success, going from a intel core duo 1.3GHz to a core 2 duo 2.0GHz for a mere £18! But now, looking at possible upgrades for my mid-2009 13-inch MacBook Pro, I am more confused. There are differences in thermal design power between processors of that family which I'm not sure if I can ignore, and I'm not even sure which socket it will be in there (I think socket P?) but I think I can get a very good upgrade, as the processor in it looks like it was pretty much bottom of the range... significant crunching gains possible if a good answer is got =) |
