Ah, at least the file server failure hasn't caused a loss of crunching work there Thargor. Still, I'm sure you could have done without it giving up completely. Strange that you had problems with the CfSW, can't say I have had any problems with these units, admittedly I've only had just over 100 of them on my 2 machines running Win7.
----------------------------------------Jonnieb, it was a good thing (or at least I think a good thing, will have to wait and see ) that you guys kept the UK thread on the first page or two, else I'm not sure I would have found it otherwise when I was starting to think about leaving my last team through inactivity of the other team members. So will continue to help keep the thread towards the top of the Teams page.Right, the brain cell has given up for the night, time for some intense study of the back of my eyelids! |

I can't believe the amount of posts on the team thread. For a long time I thought it was a lost cause!! To paraphrase a famous speech slightly! ![]() We shall go on to the end. ![]() |

Running on a mixture of Windows 7, Debian 6.0 (Squeeze), and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, my CfSW stats are: Computing for Sustainable Water : 806,483 : 2,074 : 0:240:14:10:41 ![]() |

re CfSW: only had one prob so far - on a laptop running XP. As with Thargor the WU kept on whirring without getting anywhere - 21 hours before I aborted. Such a waste.
---------------------------------------- btw what appears to be a similar issue on HFCC is not an error, see the thread "Monster WU" https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,33581 Contrary to my normal practice of crunching all projects I'm now just concentrating on HFCC and CfSW in the hope of making Ruby before they finish plus my usual 1 CEP WU per day. |

I only seem to remember having a problem with 1 small batch of CFSW workunits (estimated time to completion was over 1200 hours while @ 23% complete), after restarting Boinc, they were fine and I didn't have the problem again??

@ gordoma, genhos, themoonscrescent, and anyone else. It certainly is a good recruiting mechanism to keep the thread at the top of the list and keep us visible.Great to see the thread ticking over with your comments be it commiserating, making us jealous with holiday tales, or trumpeting your achievements. For some time it was just Thargor and I. We felt it important to try to keep the UK thread on the first or second page of the teams' forum so the UK team is visible to any casual readers of the forum who might be looking for a team to join. ![]() Talking of recruiting... @crooks_uk, I hope you don't think it cheeky if I make a small observation? Your first post in this thread talks about us lagging behind other countries and it's this first part that is visible in the thread list. I wondered if it may be more motivating to say how we are growing, rocketing ahead, pushing up the ranks, etc to encourage people to be part of the team? Worth an edit, d'you think? (I don't work in marketing or anything... Just a thought) |

@ gordoma Great minds think alike!
---------------------------------------- If you check back a couple of months ( http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=381671 ) you'll see that we've looked in to the matter of the thread header already. In short, posts older than 3 months cannot be edited so either we stick with what we have or start a completely new thread. |

If the general concensus is to start a new team thread, I really don't have any issues with that and can switch over the link to our team thread. Any suggestions are welcome.

Not to worry... Let's keep this one going then since there's some momentum. |

This being the 2nd Team UK thread, I'm fine which ever way it goes, though I will say that when reading posts made on other threads, I have a tendancy to start at the end and work backwards (or maybe i'm just wierd?), so opening comments to me don't matter as I already have a fair idea about the thread and the posters by the time I get to page 1 (if I make it that far).
