Well that's a bit of a pain in the proverbials! But at least it sounds like the data is still there. Sounds like you are hopeful of getting the server back up running before too long though.
----------------------------------------And then on to your new beast! ![]() |

Six members of the UK team are registering significant (>2.5) increases in average RT per Cal. Day Aug:Jul (and only 1 showing a decrease):
----------------------------------------dmc_1970 45.9 days The decline of Wicksman is, we believe, only temporary whilst going though the trauma of moving house! Good to see Thargor in there despite his machine problems! ![]() For the UK team as a whole, we are currently showing an increase in average Daily RT per Calendar Day of 65.3 compared with July. ![]() |

Another change in the rankings as the UK team moves ahead of HTCMania in the Results rsnkings to #81.
---------------------------------------- Ahead of us now lie Michigan Tech #79 and BitBenderTech #80. Both are estimated at 31-34 days. |

Well, the RAID-rebuild failed overnight, so it looks like all the data on the file-server is lost. Most of it is stored elsewhere, so not a major issue, but there were a few things on there (my more recent on-call notes for work, for one) that I hadn't yet backed up elsewhere.
----------------------------------------Oh well, live and learn, the hardware-RAID card I picked up on Saturday, for the fresh-build, should prevent this happening again......plus, with freshly building it, it means I can get rid of a few issues the server had from the original build (it had a weird mix of 32-bit and 64-bit packages, which I only noticed recently). ![]() |

Ah, now that is a bit more of a pain in the proverbials. As you say, you can do a fresh build and it'll be back up and crunching like a good-un.
----------------------------------------And nice going there Moon. I'm still a long way from the next milestone but slowly getting there. DSfL is my next likely badge at silver but that's still 8 days away and at my crunching pace and the fact I crunch all projects, it'll take me a while yet to get those 8 days but no worries. |

Oooh... Only an hour and 44 seconds short of my Silver badge for CfSW at the midday (UTC) update.
----------------------------------------Computing for Sustainable Water 135,076 1,096 0:044:22:59:16 Focusing purely on CfSW and its sub-1-hour WUs certainly pushes up the results ranking - gone from 40-50 results per day to over 150!! I'm in Cyprus at the moment, so I have to wait a couple of more hours into the afternoon before I get an update and only managed to hop onto Wifi now at the local hostelry to complete my online check-in for the flight home tomorrow ( ) but naturally wanted to check up on the grid at the same time. |

I stopped contributing to CfSW, since it seemed to have major issues with workunit-locking (ie. it'd sit there and "crunch" away for hours but never progress until you restarted the entire client) on my Windows machine, and would use ridiculous amounts of RAM (350MB per workunit, compared to 30-70MB for other projects)) on my Linux boxes.
----------------------------------------Oh, and genhos, my file-server was my only machine that wasn't crunching, as I didn't want to risk causing exactly what happened anyway by stressing the hardware more than it already was......so no crunching-time lost, just a lot of my time in rebuilding it and trying to configure everything up again. ![]() |

@ gordoma, genhos, themoonscrescent, and anyone else.
----------------------------------------Great to see the thread ticking over with your comments be it commiserating, making us jealous with holiday tales, or trumpeting your achievements. For some time it was just Thargor and I. We felt it important to try to keep the UK thread on the first or second page of the teams' forum so the UK team is visible to any casual readers of the forum who might be looking for a team to join. ![]() |

I can't believe the amount of posts on the team thread. For a long time I thought it was a lost cause!!
