Preaching to the choir it maybe, but we need max effort especially from the 'weekend crunchers' to keep us on track to pass the Team Milestone Target of 800 years RunTime by year end!

Of course a few new members would help enormously:

Re: UK

I have decided to lay my Dual-Core to rest, it is old, it is tired, I didn't treat it well for a very long time and now the CPU is getting slower and slower... The time loss on it (CPU time vs Actual time), is getting increasingly further apart (about 2 hours just on 1 core at the moment), the Graphics Card hasn't worked for well over a year and to get GPU on it would mean upgrading from XP to Win7 (Control Center doesn't work with XP, or atleast myself and the Computer Shop guy couldn't get it to install on XP when I was putting a 6570 in my quaddie, so I'm guessing the same will happen with this one).

So although not quite dead at the moment and will crunch for a good few days yet, I would like to announce a moment of silence for my Dual Core, to remember the hard work it has done in crunching for all Projects I have set it to....

Results = 6486 (ATM). Run Time = 4y & 248 Days (ATM). Points = 2,811,526 (ATM)

The Dual Core will be missed sad

Re: UK

On a brighter note, my new I7-3770k with a 6670 GPU should be here just before Xmas biggrin

Father Christmas has come to my house twice this year already and we're not 1/2 way through December yet wink

Re: UK

Now is a great time to join the UK team as we strive to achieve two significant targets.

Before the end of 2012 we aim to hit 800 years of RunTime.

Going forward into 2013 we want to be crunching at the rate of 1 years RunTime per day

And we need your help!

Just click to Join the UK team You know it makes sense. biggrin

Re: UK

In producing the UK team stats report last month, a number of anomalies were apparent in members' UK rankings and the +/- movement. sad These arose from inconsistencies in my early spreadsheets. blushing These have now been resolved. biggrin

For a bit of fun, and with a nod to tomorrow night's BBC SPOTY, I will be announcing the UK team equivalent - Most Improved Member Ranking of the Year . dancing

Two divisions - Existing members at 1st Jan 2012 and members joining since then. Ordering existing members is straightforward, ordering new members is not! d oh So I've come up with the Statto version of the Duckworth-Lewis formula wink

So, not to be taken too seriously but, look out for tomorrow night's post. biggrin

Re: UK

The time loss I'm getting on my Dual Core is worse than I thought, it was bad when running HCC, but under HPFP2, it's not even funny... I hadn't checked since I changed the project over, here are a few examples of what I mean:

D36NJW2J Valid 12/12/12 06:45:42 12/15/12 04:53:20 7.34 / 15.72 159.6 / 86.7

D36NJW2J Valid 12/12/12 03:00:30 12/14/12 23:31:12 10.42 / 20.90 218.8 / 126.7

D36NJW2J Pending Validation 12/11/12 17:20:56 12/14/12 13:10:17 10.68 / 22.25 231.2 / 0.0

D36NJW2J Valid 12/10/12 19:05:05 12/14/12 02:36:54 9.90 / 17.03 182.0 / 124.7

I know every work unit losses a little time, but this is the worst I've ever seen on this or any machine! Effectively 50% time loss means it really isn't a dual core any more, acting more like a Single Core sad

The amount it costs me to run in power terms vs the amount of work it's sending back, I'm even beginning to wonder if it's worth keeping it going while I wait for it's replacement confused

Re: UK

Those are pretty horrendous discrepancies in Elapsed v CPU times. crying

Just a thought - does WCGDAWS indicate the problem is across all projects or just HPF2? I vaguely recall a (SekeRob) post that said some projects are inherently inefficient when run on XP. Don't know if that applies to HPF2.
