Re: UK

Prompted by Wicksman comment on the effect of HCC GPU on his stats, the following may be of interest:
UK team stats for 08/10 (i.e. before HCC GPU) compared with 13/10
	        13-Oct 09-Oct
RunTime 0:279:19:23:16 0:290:17:54:20
Points 1,542,531 1,045,031
Results 4,000 2,074

HCC
RunTime 23.15% 29.12%
Points 46.93% 30.05%
Results 80.95% 65.48%

Wicksman is not alone in seeing significant improvement in Results as a consequence of HCC GPU. smile

Entries in purple are those members I judge to be benefiting from GPU either because they have the 'right' project mix/selection and/or GPU capable cards.
It's still early days of GPU processing. A full 7 day picture may look somewhat different. Who knows, I might get a resolution to my no GPU WUs problem and appear on the list myself! wink

Re: UK

to get the maximum out of it, I've re-enabled the project I've already finished (in regards to badges).

Am I right in thinking its only one project using GPU? (also my laptop's GPU cant be used :'( )

Re: UK

From the archives:
Bob Harris posted Oct 13, 2011
I'm looking to join a team and found you guys (sort of)

You don't appear to have much on offer, apart from this one small thread.

Your opening statement suggests that all UK teams should consolidate. If that's correct, then why not take that advice and join together with the UK Boinc Team, which has the initial appearance of a better organised group... Then the concept of world domination may become a reality....

Only a suggestion.....

I came across this post on Page 1 of the UK thread.

Bob Harris last crunched on Feb 22nd 2012 and it would seem never joined the
UK Boinc Team nor for that matter the BOINC UK team. shock

Since the original post the UK Boinc Team has recruited 22 new members, 4 of whom subsequently retired, 3 of them sgdale; douglasalt1; and danielwejones to join the UK team. biggrin
In the same period the UK team added 36 new members with 2 of them subsequently retiring.

The UK team remains the only GB based team to have a forum thread. biggrin

Re: UK

@ Wicksman

Yes HCC is currently the only WCG GPU capable project.

Neither of my 2 laptops can crunch GPU but the quickest way to check is
How do I find out what type of graphics card is installed in my computer?
If you have a computer with a Windows operating system, you may take the following steps to see what type of graphics card is installed in your computer.
select the "start" button in the bottom left hand of your display
select "run"
type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes)
expand the file entitled "device [display??] adapters" and your graphics card will be listed

Thats a cut & paste from WCG GPU advice. Not trying to insult your intelligence. wink

Re: UK

I always took that Bob Harris comments as being part troll, so no surprise there TBH.

Well it looks like I'll have to worry the Bank Manager and buy a couple of Graphics Cards then (what annoys me is that my 1st I7 has had more than a good few earlier Betas for HCC GPU and they ran & validated with no problems, GPU goes Alpha, but that same card is excluded from crunching sad , so now gotta spend more money), wife will kill me... I just won't tell her blushing

@ Wicksman: GPU uses CPU at the beginning and end of each work unit, so you may see a slight drop on the CPU work your doing (very slight drop).

Re: UK

@ themoonscrescent

It might be worth posting the I7 card details in the GPU forum and see if anyone else has the same issue. Maybe the techs might give more detail re its exclusion or reconsider.
