not offended mitrichr.
Odd thing is though, you look at it and say showing only 95k will show much more 'need'. Other folks might look at it and say Only 95K... why bother? Perspective means a lot of different things to different people. Obviously we all know the true skinny on how important the project is to folks, that is why we are in it, but sometimes numbers, in any aspect of any project or 'issue' might need some further explaining. This is where we step in. You didn't just hand out the business card and go 'here... take this'. You explained it to them a bit. After that explanation, what you SAID took the major precedence over what the numbers may or may not have already implied, because YOU clarified what it all meant. Does that make sense? Aaron |

----------------------------------------Absolutely!! I talk until my wife shuts me up (or down, or whatever). And, BTW, don't discount funerals as good hunting grounds, unless you are the bereaved or very close to the bereaved. After the closest of the relationships, parents, children, etc, and aunts, uncles and first cousins, most other gatherers are there either because they have to be, or are there to be seen. As I said, I have no shame. Especially is the cause of death was one of the subjects of a WCG or GPUGrid project. Again, I mean no offense to anyone. |

We all volunteer for.different reasons. I started simply because I.think the IDEA of grid computing is genius. What matters is that we are here trying.to make a.difference for humanity.
----------------------------------------I haven't even been a part.of the grid.for a year and yet I've spent more money building rigs for WCG and.GPUgrid simply because I think its smart, than I've donated for all charities in my life. I'm 24 btw And I consider myself a generous person. ' Not one of my family or friends understands molecular dynamics or w/e, but we crunch on for a better tomorrow. Crunching on...... An interesting fact sheet about renewable energy, courtesy of our cruncher and WCG community advisor SekeRob:

Alan gave a Clean Energy Project presentation at a very special symposium last Saturday: He spoke to kids from 6th grade to high-school level about renewable energy and our CEP effort on the World Community Grid during the “Partners in Science Program” of the Albert Einstein Science Conference at Harvard University. This is one more example that underlines what a great outreach tool CEP is. We obviously also hope that a lot of the kids will become new crunchers

We are very fortunate to have Prof. Josef Michl from the University of Colorado in town today. He visits Cambridge to give a seminar at the Excitonics Center. Prof. Michl is very invested in the rational design of OPV materials with a particular emphasis on singlet fission devices. You may remember that we have recently started to look into this technique as well and that Sule gave her last group meeting on this topic. So, this seminar is going to be very interesting for the CEP team.

The new cluster for the Aspuru-Guzik Group has arrived and our friends at FAS-RC have set it up. We now close the entries for the naming competition and will soon announce the procedure for the next round. Stay tuned!

Roberto has been working on some improvements on jabba01 yesterday, Suleyman started building jabba03, and Supriya, Carolina, and Johannes continued work on the new project webpage. So much stuff to do...
