Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Yeah, server admins generally discourage the storage of shiny objects near the racks for that reason.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Johannes visited the Van Voorhis group meeting at MIT yesterday. Shane Yost presented his work on organic semiconductors. Very interesting science. Thanks for the hospitality!

applause Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Short the task run-times are of the present batches, no shortage of supply and that allowed for a day record validations on March 8... 23,504 they were.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

I noticed that, Im averaging 2 to 4 hours a task .vs. the normal 12 ish or maybe 8 on what used to be a short. Hopefully they don't run out of tasks on us. Id hate to see all that sunlight goto waste on another project :D

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Roberto was featured in one of the graduate student testimonial videos of the Fundacion Mexico en Harvard (Alan also got caught on tape at some point). Very neat video.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Due to a batch of smaller workunits we are seeing record returns of 23,000+ results per day (compared to the usual 17,000 or so).

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

cleanenergy,

Not only are the WUs smaller, but they are friendlier too. The size of the file the WUs write to disk is smaller, so it has less of an impact then normal. I have seen a large reduction in the difference between elapse time and CPU time, even with increasing the number of CEP2 WUs running concurrently.
