Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

A brief reminder: The Harvard CEP team will be at the MIT Energy Showcase in the Westin Copley Place in Boston from 5-8pm TODAY! Admission is free and it is going to be a very nice exhibition. This is your chance to talk to the team face-to-face.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Wish I could have gone! My daughter is just down the street at BU and while doing my residency at UMass in Worchester we would meander into Boston to enjoy the city!

Dear judson Somerville MD,
too bad that you couldn't make it - maybe next year.
Best wishes

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Im glad you are getting some publicity. I too am not a Facebook or any of those type of places, fan. Way too easy for folks to get into business you do not want / need them into on places like that. I have other 'personal' reasons for not wanting to be part of groups like that, however ill keep that to myself.

With this, I am surprised you do not have a website that is hosted somewhere for your project, or the college doesn't give you some room to post a little 'area' to put pictures like this in, so that a person does not have to be a 'member' of a group to see them. This way anyone can get into it and it's not exclusionary to anyone via a 'members only' type of mentality that places like Facebook are. Personally I believe that would be a better way to go, but that's just me. Perhaps im just a curmudgeon :D

Maybe this is something WorldCommunity could do for all it's members / project holders. Give them an area to 'Pimp my Project' at on their domain so you could post your pictures and stories there, since people have to go there to begin with to join WCG and get onto CEP. Keeping it all in one place would be a benefit too.

Just some idle thoughts, never mind the old grumpy one behind the phosphor screen :P

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Dear Powhatan and Aaron,
we actually do have our own project webpage
http://cleanenergy.harvard.edu
in addition to the WCG project page
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/research/cep2/overview.do

We use facebook for our research log because it is a convenient way to (potentially) reach a lot of people and use a well developed communication infrastructure. This forum thread is essentially a duplicate of our facebook log - except for pictures - for those who are not on facebook. So you are not missing out on other content. Our http://cleanenergy.harvard.edu website also shows the last posts, so you can have a look at the pictures even if you pass on facebook in general (at least I believe that should work). But you make a good point - we should have a designated picture area on our website as well.
Best wishes and a nice rest-weekend (well, three more hours that is)
Your Harvard CEP team

Here may be the solution of the recent server trouble we and WCG experienced:
