I'm stuck too.
---------------------------------------- 50 Hours of cep2 WU's failing to upload. Meanwhile other cep2 wu's do upload succesfully on the same box. Same error as described above. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by SNURK at Nov 15, 2010 4:24:47 PM] |

So any news on this? Has anyone who has this issue been able to solve it? My WU's that fail to upload to cleanenergy.worldcommunitygrid.org (the *_4 files) are piling up
---------------------------------------- . The oldest ones have a due date of the 19th... |

No idea why it strikes one or the other cruncher and out of nowhere. Occasional hickups/retries and backoffs, but here all go through eventually. I've mentioned it a number of times... what works for me is limiting the upload bandwidth to 84KB. Then the upload is without interruption which is costly in that these zips invisibly really resume from the first bit. Else, visit the FAQs for a step-by-step of things to try. Clean DNS cache, boot router, hit the "try communication" in the activity menu, hit retry in the Transfer tab, try Update in Project tab, disconnect the Wiki, AND sometimes changing the DNS service works. Now using 8.8.8.8 secondary 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS service).

Thanks, I think I tried most of those.
----------------------------------------In a final act of desperation I selected all 100 hours of looping uploads in the transfer tab and HIT the 'Abort Transfer' button while screaming SCREW THEM. That certainly cleaned up the transfer tab. Shame about the lost points and cpu-time though. |

I am having the same problem on 1 CEP2 WU. All others are fine. Jeez, I think I may have to stop crunching CEP2 on my windows machine if this can't be resolved.

Same problems here.
Not good for the server, but I just kept hitting the retry button and they eventually managed to get going. Once started, they seemed to trundle along ok until finished. Sorry, not much help! |

I can offer more information about these problems but not necessarily much help with resolution.
----------------------------------------My laptop was doing the exact thing for a couple weeks, hanging on the _4 upload. Fortunately, it's a laptop so I took it to school. When I connected to a different network, they uploaded seamlessly which rules out problems on the machine itself. I had reset/reconfigured/even completely rebuilt my wireless with different hardware and saw no improvement. Sekerob's suggestion of lowering the max upload rate did allow a couple results to go through. Doing a tracert to www.worldcommunitygrid.org would get me about 6 hops out when it would repeatedly time out. Access to the WCG Website was haphazard at best while I had no problem accessing other sites. My suspicion is something the ISP is doing (possibly intentional throttling) that is restricting access to specific IPs. As of the last couple days, I have been having much quicker access to WCG having made no changes to my configuration. At this point, the only reliable workaround I can suggest is uploading through a different network when possible. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

I'm having the same problem on 3 computers at 2 different locations (same ISP though). I'm not an IT specialist but I think the problem is Harvards servers are overloaded with the Windows launch. All other WCG projects upload and download just fine but CEP2 has tons of HTTP errors. It's a real hassle because my upload maxes out at 65KB/s so any backlog can take hours to recover from.
