Re: Can't Upload Tasks

hummm, just remembered that thare is a new setting configuration launched few days ago, that limits the transferences of any client, under any specific device profile, or something like that...

So, maybe you would like to verify yours configs again, and possibilly try the config proposed by Lawrence in the follow thread link:

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,30239

...

Here is my profile. As far as I know, 0.0 means "Do not apply this restriction".

Confirm before connecting to Internet? No
Disconnect when done? No
Maximum upload rate: 0.0 Kbytes/sec
Maximum download rate: 0.0 Kbytes/sec
Transfer at most: 0.0 Mbytes every 0 days
This setting allows members to choose the max transfer allowed over a multiple day period. It is enforced by version 6.10.46+ of the BOINC agent.
...

In my personal config preferences, I prefer set the configs with:

Transfer at most 9999.0 Mbytes every 1 day

Maximum upload/download rates of 9999.0 Kbytes/sec

and it avoid any problem with wrong choices.

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

The default of that value zero ( equals unlimited ) and if a periodic quota were reached some sort of message would be logged, plus the "Network based on preferences" must be selected for that to work. The one message posted "Internet access OK, project server may be temporarily down" indicates another issue, that's why we'd like to see a message log copy and not a single selected line.

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

Okay, so you have too many uploads pending to get new downloads and it seems one upload has a problem:

04/11/2010 22:17:00 World Community Grid [error] Error reported by file upload server: [nw391_00022_15_0] locked by file_upload_handler PID=1253
04/11/2010 22:17:00 World Community Grid Temporarily failed upload of nw391_00022_15_0: transient upload error

Normally this should reset, but now seems to need tech intervention.

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

Both preferences settings for maximum memory usage and disk space usage are too low in my opinion:

...
04/11/2010 22:14:59 Preferences:
04/11/2010 22:14:59 max memory usage when active: 614.19MB
04/11/2010 22:14:59 max memory usage when idle: 716.56MB
04/11/2010 22:14:59 max disk usage: 0.25GB
...

and once it probably will not affect much your machine performance (due low usage of BOINC client), except if you are running applications that will request too much this resources, I would like to suggest you to increase this values in your config device profiles until the maximum available in both cases (I bet that it will not impact your machine, but test please).

And Sekerob have sure about zero settings... use it and forgot my coment about.

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

The memory settings were of no relevance. You have been crunching successfully albeit them being a bit on the tight side.

I've asked a tech to look in. Something changed and that does not happen all by itself. If there's a router or a proxy of some kind not in your control it's an area to check out. Port 80, 443 and 31416 have to be open outward. Maybe they'll ask to add some log flags into the the config file.

Whilst you've got completed results, maybe cutting the losses with now 4 days+ idle and do a project reset.

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

I faced problem like you months ago, with some similar characteristics (for example don't upload nothing) but was a kind of page file issue related with the size of virtual memory available to manage the machine.

At that time, I make a huge mistake selecting my Additional Work Buffer Days to capture 10 days of DDDT2 project type A WU's, and it happened, so the client become very slow and the cache filled completely with serious constrains to upload anything.

Take time to solve, and I changed my machine virtual memory limits to high values (to avoid any aspects related with page file issues), unselecting too the Windows management of its resources of machine, and waiting days until almost all WU's finished its uploads, and just after it the BOINC client solve itself the problem uploading automatically the 3 or 4 WU's that was impacted the queue and which remain traped in the upload queue without solution, but just at the final uploading of any other WU available, and if I remeber it was the aparent reason that difficulted the uploading of any other WU's during days.

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

I'm getting a similar issue at the moment (well, for the past 5 days apparently). No fresh work coming in, two Clean Energy tasks stuck in "uploading", 3 transfers stuck in whatever state they're in since I don't know when (doesn't seem to be any columns to tell me about that). Network connectivity seems fine here. Last few lines of message log has:

biggrin
Sure, dt-wgc.

Post the Messages tab after a reboot so we know what your setup is. We might recommend making some changes in your profile and then doing a (ugh!) Project Reset. When confronted with the unknown, we try a few simple things first, then start recommending heroic action if the easy tries fail.
