Re: Can't Upload Tasks

Alrighty, some further data points.

The POST/417's in the squid log were significant; bypassing the squid cache for the uploads allowed the uploads to succeed. There appears to be some known issue with squid and 100-Continue and 417-Expectation failed, although this combination of client and squid-cache has been working for many months without issue so I don't know why it's suddenly stopped working.

Anyway, there was still a file transfer stuck in the downloading state, so I've aborted then and the transfer queue now appears clear, and new tasks have been downloaded. I will re-enable squid as the proxy and see if subsequent tasks cause any problems.

Cheers,
Daryl.

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

Hello dt-wgc,
I would never have figured that out. Overall, you look good. But I expect you know that yourself.

Right now I am trying to figure out why my new database program keeps crashing. Sigh. . .

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

I also am having a problem uploading one of my betas. This has been going on for at least 24 hrs.

I have been able to upload/download other WUs on that machine just fine. I have also checked and my wingman hasn't returned his WU either. Please advise what to do. Should I just abort it? It was 10.5 hrs worth of crunching, so don't want to just waste it.

Edit: all other betas are done and have been uploaded for a while now. So, I am thinking this problem has been going on for a while. The due date is in about 48 hrs.

Edit2: I forgot to mention that I already restarted the system to see if it clears.

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

Hi Lawrence.

I've subsequently found it's a "common enough" problem (actually, now that I know what I'm searching for, there's lots of hits blushing) - the thread here gives some detail on the issue, plus a workaround involving setting up a cc_config.xml file. So it looks like an interaction between squid and an upstream transparent http proxy, most likely my ISPs.

So, future Googlers who come to this thread, if you're mixing boinc and squid and are getting "HTTP error"s, check out the link above.

Cheers,
Daryl

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

Hello anhhai,

If Retry Now in the Transfers tab doesn't work after a reboot and if Update WCG in the Projects tab has no effect, the only thing left is to Abort the transfer in the Transfers tab.

At least, that is my opinion. If you wait a while, maybe somebody else will post a new idea.

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

Lawrence, I can wait a while since the problem WU isn't causing any other problem to that system. Hopefully something good happens, but honestly I doubt there is much that can be done. Just feels bad to waste all that CPU time.

no possible solution, except to abort the task?

Re: Can't Upload Tasks

I aborted mine because they were past the due date and I assume they didn't need the betas any longer. I'm concerned the production units will hang up like the betas and there will be a lot of wasted compute time
