hmm...maybe I get something wrong, but shouldn't there be only one WU per host? I got 2 right away crunching simultaneously on my i7. Maybe it has something to do with the enabled HT/SMT?

Grr.....the forum ate my long post I had typed out.
----------------------------------------I picked up 1 Linux, 1 Mac, & 1 Win Vista. Linux (Ubuntu via VMWare) is running much improved. 7% complete, Elapsed time 56 minutes, CPU time 50 minutes. For comparison the CEP wu running concurrently is 11% complete, Elapsed time 5 hours, CPU time 1 hour. Mac (MacBook Air) - 3.1% complete, 34 minutes elapsed, 22 minutes CPU time. Win Vista (Quad) - failed after 20 minutes elapsed, 0 CPU time: 10/22/2010 5:00:53 PM World Community Grid Task BETA_E200515_495_A.25.C21H14N2S2.76.2.set1d06_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 10/22/2010 5:00:53 PM World Community Grid If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 10/22/2010 5:00:53 PM World Community Grid [error] Process creation failed: The system cannot find the file specified. On the systems I got work I only picked up one task, enough for me and the Beta test; not much point running 24 tasks on an i7 dual skt system.
Kubuntu x64 10.04 seems to be doing well so far, CPU and Elapsed time on Vista x64 are 2.44 and 3.09, Vista x86 will start in 5min, XP and W7 doing well, but I don't want any more Betas today. |

I've received 1 so far. It's running on my 1.8 GHz dual core Atom D525 under Ubuntu 10.04 and BOINC 6.10.17. So far CPU time is tracking a little closer to elapsed time than in previous CEP2 Linux WUs. Infrequent checkpointing of course is still the case.

Received 1 each on 2 of 6 machines. Both were on Linux. None for windoze so far.

CPU time at last checkpoint 00:39:28 CPU time 02:25:13 Elapsed time 02:28:07 Fraction done 20.170% Another thing that's the same as with previous CEP2 Linux WUs is that if more than one runs simultaneously on this machine, swap memory starts to be used -- even though there's more free memory left than swap that is being used. That's happening right now with the beta running at the same time as a regular CEP2 WU. I think the new policy of only one CEP2 per core will fix that particular inefficiency. Currently, with 2 C4CW WUs, 1 CEP2 beta, and 1 CEP2 WU running in2GB RAM, there is 66704k of free memory, but 1292k of swap used. Edit: I just changed the Linux "swappiness" setting on the machine from 60 to 10. I"ll see whether that reduces the unnecessary swapping.
