Still only 1 per 2 cores which is OK by me. Same here. Hey Nano! Are you seeing longer run times Other than that it looks like deja vu with the last one for me. Cheers. Hard to say Dataman. I had run times from 5 hours to 11.31 hours on the first batch. The 2 that are PV from this trickle are about 9-10 hours each. I have 11 more in progress so I won't know the results until tomorrow morning. Thanks much Nano! Same here ... 6-9 on the first one ... looks like 9-11 on this group. Still no bandwidth issue ... I almost feel deprived. Cheers! I know bandwidth is going to be an issue for some people. That 80% suggestion I told you about before comes from the old WinMx and open nap networks dial up days. I think anything less than a 1 meg upload (like me) is going to take some bandwidth management. Especially if you have multiple multi core machines on this project. See Kevin's post. I think (therefore I am ) that moving to 6.10.x will clean up a lot of problems. Although moving to 6.10.x here will keep Sek and Jean very busy .... Thanks for the input. |

As far as the bandwidth limits go, we are likely going to be adopting the 6.10 client shortly. It includes a feature that lets you set your max data transferred. We will modify the server so that if you are using a 6.10 client and have set that field then we will ignore the bandwidth check. This will make sure that people are protected from excess data transfers. You mean if set to zero = ignore else check bandwidth? |

I personally don't like 6.10. I loaded it onto 1 of my machines and I don't like the fact that you can't click and drag to highlight multiple WUs. This makes it a pain to do some micromanagement if needed. Which is mainly needed during betas.

I leave a small white space before the vertical scrollbar for these kind of purpose. |

Yet some still cling to the comfort of yesterday. Pain? Micromanage? Why? To what purpose? |

Trust me when I say I don't cling to old stuff, that is why I installed the latest boinc program on 1 of my machines. However, if you can't click and drag to highlight a few dozen WU at a time, then you have to click on each one by one. The reason why I need to do this is because during betas, I want to suspend most of the WU and force the betas to run first. I am sure I am not the only one that does this and it is a major pain when you have 16 cores and have a cache set to 1 day (around 50-80 WUs)

Here's how to do it, make some space pictured below.
----------------------------------------I'm using 6.10.58 so I don't understand why you can't. |

hmmmm, maybe I did something stupid. I will try it again later. Thx X-Files Quick test, the click-and-drag only works if you've got some white space to the right, like in X-Files 27's picture, or if you starts at the end (or top) of the list, but this is infrequently an option. Another method that works even without any white space is to click on the 1st., hold-in shift and click the last you wants to select. Or, if the wu's isn't continuous, you can hold-in ctrl and select individual wu's. "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |

Note in case anyone else is running early 6.10 releases. the option was not added until 6.10.19 according to version history. Edit: p.s. 2 units are running on my quad with no noticeable problems in performance now, but when they start up they do hang up everything else. E.g. when the first beta unit started the box was sluggish and I instantly got a bunch of "exit with no finished file" messages for the C4CW units running. Both symptoms disappeared as soon as the beta unit finally started crunching. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 22, 2010 6:34:39 AM] |
