Greetings Ken, Thank you for taking the time to try and figure out what may be causing the issue. I would recommend uninstalling the Ad-Aware pro first. I am unfamiliar with that product and it may be what is limiting the agent. Sorry about the no work...But I needed to be fair to the other members. The main reason I tested was to make sure your login worked and there wasn't something strange causing an error. By you doing the steps on another machine will eliminate it down to something specific to your computer setup. Since you are going through the steps of uninstalling software, this may not be needed (other than getting a second machine attached under your account...hehe). Please let us know how things go for you as this information will be helpful to others in the future. Thanks again! -Uplinger I would like to type this in a really tiny font so that nobody could read it! Boy! Did I ever screw up! It appears that I mis-entered my password (TWICE??) when I initially created it on WCG. Norton, bless it's heart, offered to store the sign in info for WCG and I accepted. From that point on, Norton knew the "wrong" but working password, but I didn't. When the Boinc File Manager tried to attach a project, it asked for the password from ME, rather than Norton as the web site does. Since I manually supplied the password that SHOULD have been right, but wasn't, the password was rejected and no project could be attached. But whenever I logged on directly, Norton used the "bad" but working password automatically. Once I uninstalled Norton, including all of the stored sign-on info, I could no longer log in to WCG since I didn't know the "working" password. When I finally requested that WCG email my password to me, the error was instantly obvious, as was my embarrassment! Note that Norton did NOT interfere in any way with Boinc. Nor did any other program. This was ALL operator error. My thanks for all the assistance and interest. My sincerest apology for the time taken from you. Humbly, Ken PS: Now I'm going to HIDE for a while! |

Have fought that battle in past, so took a scratchpad (notepad for instance) and typed it in visible text and confirmed. Then copied that and pasted it into the password field.
----------------------------------------The older we get the weirder the tricks. Thanks for self-solving. We'll copy your post "verbatim" into an FAQ... your name will live on forever. :D Happy Crunching.

I would like to type this in a really tiny font so that nobody could read it! Boy! Did I ever screw up! Fortunately you have not found the smallest font of this forum. As pilots say for not so exceptional serious mistakes, there are those who have already done it, and those who have never done it, yet. So your story and your post are good reminders of what can happen to any of us although we think we would never do such mistakes. Thanks again for your fairness and for sharing with us the real cause of your problems. |
